We are bringing three bottles of eau de villee. Lemon spirit - a little bit like limoncello but more refined in taste (of course it comes from Belgium !) 🥂🍾

I'm not terribly worried by ice cubes in cheap wine, though they must be small cubes. Unfortunately one friend put ice cubes in a rather upscale rosé I had treated her too. I love this friend dearly, and just bit my lip a bit.

I'm having a glass of apple-cucumber-lemon juice for breakfast.

Did you make it, or can you buy it like that? Sounds good.

Came from the store, right next to the orange juice.

Zwei habe ich gesagt! (Laughter here please).

I had some quite good red Fitou tonight, which is one of the better (cheaper) wines. No complaints.

I have a great côtés de Provence. Chateau maraverne. Their top wine is called donum dei. God's gift. Excellent. Hips.

I put a bottle of Sidi Brahim rosé in the refrigerator for tomorrow for the midday snack during the Ganesha procession with an Anyport member.

How appropriate, Kerouac ~ y'all have fun!

I didn't know Sidi Brahim had a rosé - is this a recent development? I must say that we bought it only at Maghrebi dépanneurs after the shops were closed.

It's not actually a rosé but a gris, like most Maghrebi non-red wines.

That beer looks like a very strange mish-mash, but perhaps appropriate for watching that debate.

My current beer crushes are Weihenstephaner Weissbier, Ziggy Zoggy Kellerbier, and Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest. You could do much worse than any of these.

Oh, and Jever too. Nice malt forward Northern German pilsner with a noble hop bite to balance it all correctly out.

We celebrated my daughter passing her exams. I asked for a bottle of champagne. First time I ever buy champagne in a restaurant I think. Then the menu was assorted with wine. A volonté. And by god they were efficient at replenishing. So I covered my glass having had a fair share already and the waiter filled up my mother in law and my widens glasses. Mil gave me her glass. Wife half of hers. And it was before the red was served. Thankfully alcohol content allowed me to ignore the throbbing and I fell mercifully in Orpheus arms rapidly. Alas at 5 am some blood had found its way into the alcohol in my veins and the throbbing resumed. Life can be tough.

We will be celebrating our son's birthday tomorrow so I have put some champagne in the fridge to go with the cake. At home, not at a restaurant.

I love a drink but champagne does absolutely nothing for me.

I will drink both champagne and coffee socially but will never drink either if given a preference. Champagne is quite easy to avoid, but I end up drinking quite a bit of espresso from time to time just to reserve my seat in a café when I have no real desire for a drink.
Anyway, tonight I had the American drink known as a high-ball, and due to the dosage, my head is spinning a bit.

What do you consider a high-ball, Kerouac? Back when my parents referred to having high-balls (an old fashioned term even then) I always assumed they were having mixed drinks made with bourbon or scotch and mixed with water over ice.

In my part of the world, it was hard liquor mixed with Coke or 7-Up and that's pretty much what Wikipedia says about it. But by extension, it is pretty much any alcohol mixed with something or other in a higher proportion.

In my part of the world, it was hard liquor mixed with Coke or 7-Up I was under the impression that what people in my age group usually call "mixed drinks", i.e., some kind of non-alcoholic beverage mixed with alcohol, was now popular again with the excruciating millennials, who call them cocktails, a word that I thought only existed in novels or on neon signs in front of old bars. I'd be more likely to envision Kerouac's description as a highball, although there is no reason that Htmb's more sophisticated version wouldn't be a highball as well.

My parents didn’t like sweet drinks, so water was their liquid of choice to mix with their alcohol. I still have some of the drinks glasses they used for company. They’re my favorite glasses, just the right size, and I have a nice memory of my mother referring to them as “high-ball” glasses.

Yes the millennial discovery of "cocktails" is rather annoying.

My French grandmother absolutely loved sloe gin and Coke. I think my parents probably used it to make sure she would go to bed early when she was visiting.
Meanwhile, this bottle of mei kwei lu chew should probably be taken away from me, but it seems to accompany stupid television shows perfectly.
