Ibrahim Maalouf puts me in a trance whenever I listen to him.

My brother has also become a big country music fan over the years, but I remain totally impervious to it. And even though I enjoy drinking whisky from time to time, a song glorifying it is not to my taste, in any style.

the original evokes the grandchildren of the Yiddish slum poets in NYC (also in Montréal and Buenos Aires).

That was lovely, thank you! Often the lovely musical riffs are cut off when the play it on the radio.

I love the video for showing the instruments being played e.g. the bass line at the beginning. Musically this is almost perfect.

I find it greatly disturbing that a topical song from 50 years ago can be just as topical in 2020, as though humanity has made absolutely no progress.

I just posted that song in the 8 song game for the topic Protest. I wish it could run right now on an endless loop in supermarkets, elevators, wherever people are subjected to canned music. Re: your comment about it being just as topical this many years later ~ Jimmy Carter released a statement yesterday on the George Floyd protests: In my 1971 inaugural address as Georgia’s governor, I said: “The time for racial discrimination is over.” With great sorrow and disappointment, I repeat those words today, nearly five decades later. source

I continue to believe that Biffy Clyro is the most interesting Scottish rock group.
