Fabulous pics Bixa although, as I noted in the last series of pics you posted, a bit depressing. (And, like Kerouac pointed out in his recent photo essay of the square he discovered near him, I have to wonder why the fountains aren't turned on?)
I've seen some photos of the French Quarter taken in the last couple of months and one thing that really stands out is devoid of people, one is forced to really focus on and appreciate the architecture.
(Also, how very clean it is)
Are the municipal gardeners in Oaxaca working, tending the gardens there?

Seeing Oaxaca looking so empty is indeed strange, not natural, something wrong...

So true that now, with streets devoid of people, we really can stop & smell the roses -- or admire the architecture, as the case may be.
Honestly, the public gardens here never look that great -- no great swaths of lush planting or anything like that. I have peered into the parks as I go by, and they do seem groomed.
Kerouac, admittedly you were here during a peak crowd season, but yes -- it is very unnatural to see such empty streets in a pedestrian-intense city.
I just went all the way through the last page & saw that by sheer accident I posted quarantine pictures of Oaxaca exactly a month apart -- May 10 and June 10. Looks like I might have to follow up on July 10, too, with the way things are going.

Listening to those drums, it’s hard to keep still! Do you know if there were celebrating anything special?

No, I did not go downstairs to interview them.

I bet you were too busy dancing to the drumbeat up in your apartment.

*yawn* Just another typical Paris street scene. Great video, Kerouac. I notice that mask wearing is really spotty both with the participants and the onlookers. Is that the norm now?

I would say it is more the norm on the weekend for wandering around in the neighbourhood, but it is taken very seriously during the week. For one thing, it is obligatory on the metro and the buses and at least half of the people need to use them during the week.
As things become more and more normal, I have noticed (and I have done it myself) that people have decided that they can sit on the "forbidden" seats (50%) depending on the circumstances. And I took a completely packed bus today, so it would have been ridiculous not to use all of the seats since all of the standing people were up against each other. But wearing masks...

I've been meaning to post this for the last few months but keep forgetting. This woman comes to our neighborhood and sets up on the main drag around the corner every weekend from Friday to Sunday starting at 7:30 a.m. until around 1 or 2p.m. I can sometimes hear her from our house if the wind is blowing in my direction. In sequined shorts and a plethora of feathers and numerous pieces of headgear she sings and dances her heart out to whomever may be there. She has some loyalists, usually small families who come religiously every weekend to watch her as she does a number of children's songs and also knows how to sign (there's one family that has a deaf child and to see the look of delight on his face as she sings and signs to him). Yesterday, when I went for early a.m. coffee I came back out onto the street and she was singing to my dog. ("How Much is that Doggie in the Window").

Playing to the deaf child and singing to your dog is just wonderful!

The stuffed bears began appearing in Paris about 3 years ago, in shops, in banks, sometimes sitting on benches outdoors. Many have found a new home in restaurants and cafés as they take advantage of the disappearence of human beings.

Is this a classic case of cold feet, or merely pre-wedding jitters?

This is in my airbnb. I'm embarrassed to admit how long it took for me to notice it. 😁

I'd imagine Our Lady... images are just part of the usual furniture to your eyes. You touristing inside Mexico or has Our Lady gone on a world tour? Pretty common to see here as well in a restaurant or on cars/trucks.

Fumobici, I'm in the town of Coatepec, Veracruz -- just arrived yesterday.
Guadalupe is not only on my wall, but on the outside wall of the building facing into this living room. That one is only a headshot, but has more roses.

Some local color from the nearby city of Xalapa, the state capital of Veracruz. I was killing a few minutes before meeting a friend downtown there. She had some business to do & my function was moral support. Do you love that none of the advertising pictures are photos? Across the street from the photo emporium ~ Behind that church ~ What a great market! I wish I'd had more time. It had tons of places to eat and spilled out to the streets on the other side. There were flowers upon flowers and more flowers. This is a tiny portion of what was there ~ It's Veracruz, so of course pineapples ~ And in this region, always orchids ~
