Yes, la vache qui rit, got it everywhere I've ever been. Sometimes there's no choice.
I remember i Algeria, must have ben on my second stint there, so 73/74, they were starting there experiment with socialism. So dairy products were difficult to find. Whenever there was Emmenthaler there were long queues. No other cheeses were available even in the capital except for that laughing cow.
But there was one place you could get real camembert, that was in a town that you passed through on the way into the Sahara. I think it was Bou Saada.
