I almost never smoked pot (my dad had died from a litany of smoker's diseases) but did like patchouli. Haven't smelled it in decades.
I might try cannabis oil (for aches and pains; it is legal here) but there are no associated fragrances.

Patchouli smells nice in moderate amounts. Pretty much any perfume is horrible when splashed on in excess.
I used to have a pot of patchouli right near my front door and loved brushing past it on my way in and out.

I do enjoy smoking some cannabis from time to time. Particularly for walks in the woods with my dog.
I consider places today where its still a criminal offense the same way you might view places where women aren't allowed to drive or alcohol is strictly prohibited, quaint relics clinging uselessly to an earlier age.

I don't remember what patchouli smelled like but it makes me think of hippies and long flowery dresses.

I was put right off drugs when I was in Egypt. It was not uncommon to see some locals slumped against a wall, totally out of it on hashish. The RAF by contrast, issued us with benzedrine in our emergency packs. This we were told was to enable us to stay awake if we were in a dangerous situation. I did occasionally take one when doing duty as guard commander, when we had to stay awake all night.

Of course, benzedrine is not a drug! That stuff (amphetamines, et al) was called "speed" when I was younger.

Should be kept in mind that every time you enjoy a glass of wine or an aperitif, you are doing "drugs". The distinction between alcohol and other inebriants has no actual scientific basis, it's purely a cultural construct.

Did you mean to say that benzedrine is not a drug, Bjd? In your subsequent sentence you seem to be acknowledging that it is indeed a drug.

I saw irony in her statement. It was heavily loaded with irony. Too bad irony doesn't translate well over the internet.

The need for irony punctuation has been understood for ages. We even have a thread about it: The Irony Mark

I remember the old modems where you had to go away for an hour or two if you were trying to upload 20 photos.

I remember the time when they stopped loading baggage onto planes until they had paraded each and every passenger down to the tarmac to identify their personal checked-in baggage which was on display on the ground. And then they would finally load it on the plane.

fumobici, even caffeine is a drug. I know I'm out of sorts in the morning until I've had a shot of espresso. Of course even wine or beer are drugs - that is why there are legal limits to their consumption before driving or operating machinery.

Caffeine's relatively mild addictiveness is its magic. The immense satisfaction of feeding it and the stimulant properties in sum make it an ideal day starter.

K2 - I remember that too. Standing on the tarmac pointing out my bag. Must have been the days when the PLO was active. I don't recall the IRA branching out to mayhem in the sky.

I remember when you could find someone’s address in the phone book. Now you can’t even find their phone number in the phone book.
What do parents sit their little ones on to raise them up to table height, now that phone books are so thin, and Sears and Penney’s catalogs are a thing of the past?

But a phone book and two catalogs would do the trick in the olden days.
Or an unabridged dictionary. Remember them?
