Oh, so that cycle is already finished. I think we need a cycle with international superstars. I don't know if Farah Fawcett would even qualify for that, but she WAS internationally known, unlike Ed McMahon.

It was a tragedy, however, given the lifestyle not surprising. Just heard that the LAPD took bags of prescription drugs out of the house and he had a live in doctor who supposedly gave him a shot of Demerol before he arrested. This may just be supposition but the whole case has been turned over to Burglary and Homocide so who is to say where this will end. AND this is all the posting I will do about this subject as I agree this will go on for days.

No wonder it was too late when the ambulence men arrived. If he stood up, slapped a hand to his chest and shouted "OW!", anybody there would have just thought it was part of a dance routine.

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D "Geraldine, that's my lover..." I just realized, I've become my Dad - who ALWAYS got the words to songs wrong. This stupid song's been going through me tiny head all day (one of those ear worms) and I just realized it's "Billie Jean", not "Geraldine"... what an idiot ;D ;D ;D ;D

Actually, it's "billy jean is not my lover" ............... I thought it was odd earlier, but since you're so much more knowledgeable than I about music, I just figured it was a song unknown to me. Thank goodness I didn't quote you!

Ha! There you go, now you know I'm not a fan of his work for sure. Hilarious, my Dad would love it!

I think that Michael's death at 50 is a great loss to the music world. He was was a talent of a generation and I didn't discover this until about 1990, when I first viewed Thriller. Then, I looked at his other videos and was very impressed with his dance, his choreography, his creativity...although I liked his voice less. His achievement is undeniable. His stage personna was fabulous.
His video was the first to be on MTV from a black artist (1984 ?)...his producer threatened to withdraw all other of his videos (white) unless Thriller was allowed entry....thus opening this venue for those who would follow. Today, MTV is dominated by black artists. Michael Jackson's videos and choreography led the way for so many of the artists of today. If you doubt this, listen to what is being said, with sincerity. Musicians understand what he contributed. There will be an award show this Sunday night re: music with many black artists...watch this.
I think Michael was brilliant but very disturbed, emotionally. Speaking of casting the first stone...let those of us who were thrown into the international spotlight at the age of 5...thus losing childhood forever...cast the first stone. Any takers?
Sadly, he reminds me of Elvis. Alone, past his first blinding brilliance and surrounded by people who lived 'off him'. Parasites. Few friends who cared about him as a person, not knowing quite what to do...confronted with a 'comeback' (?)performance in London with rigorous self-imposed demands...what pressure, after not being onstage for ten years. He was an extremely disciplined performer, whatever you think of his style of music.
I would like to forget plastic surgery and his immense pain. I also doubt the child molestion issues. I simply think he wanted to have a childhood, at least once, even if vicariously. I think it was innocent. Whatever is the truth here, I hope that people will be able to seperate his contribution to music from his bizarre and sad personal life. He was also a son, brother and friend. Michael Jackson's life was not a joke. Here is one song he wrote, We are the World,

Thanks, Jazz. That was a beautifully written reminder for us to look for the common humanity in others.
I, too, was never able to accept that he was a pedophile. Your comparing him to Elvis is particularly apt, especially where it concerns doctors. In both cases (& others, such as Howard Hughes) the very people who could have and should have helped these troubled people preferred to exploit them.

I am sad for all the good legacy he left, but I am glad he's gone from a painful life. May he rest in peace (although I doubt the parasites will allow him that.)

I've seen that one before, so strange.
It's sad that Micheal Jackson has passed away. Take away his weirdness, he was somefin' else, as they say.

I read somewhere that MJ stipulated in his will that he wishes his body to be plastinated by Dr Gunther von Hagens who intends to present him in his Moonwalker stance.
