Squash in general for eating are best picked small. They get stringier and tougher the larger they go. Nobody wants your "prize" 5 kg courgette, no matter how proud you are of it.

As I have said in the past, I do not consider squash to be an edible item. *puts on a helmet and runs away at top speed*

I like squash...but only eat it occasionally, nobody else in the family likes it aside from my DiL.
We've been eating home grown potatoes for a while, not the best crop I've ever had but fair considering theyre being grown in tubs. Best so far was probably 'Winston' altho the Charlotte and Anya were nice too. Still got loads of pots left.

I adore both summer and winter squash. One great tragedy of living in Mexico is that the classic yellow crookneck is nowhere to be found. To me that is hands down the most delicious of summer squash.
Of everything I've planted, the eggplant has disappointed me with its very dinky plants. I looked it up and apparently the problem is how cool it gets here at night. The eggplant plants need to get over themselves & roll with the climate they've got.

Neither. In the ground and that was the smallest plant so bodes well for the remainder.

They're nice, aren't they? Tons more on the bushes.
The chayote/mirliton plant grew from one that dropped from the neighbor's side of the wall. More of his vines are growing over to my side now, so I should have no shortage of chayotes.

Fast growing veggies, Bixa! Things are slow here this year because it hasn't been very hot. A neighbour was complaining that her tomatoes have mildew. I have one or two plants of non-cherry tomatoes and none are ripe yet.

It's not unbearably hot here, but seems like good summer heat for vegetables.
The okra plants just sat there for a good while, but a few good rains seem to have convinced them to grow. This evening I saw flower buds on some of them.

Thanks! That was supper last night, along with some bulgur. Having the bulgur & chayote leftovers for lunch, along with more beans I just picked & cooked with tomato sauce.

My sister in California was showing me her garden on video & I almost wept over all the crookneck squash she'd planted. It's my all-time favorite and completely unknown in Mexico.
Mich, what is pepper squash?

All lovely veg! I would love to try one of those big round yellow squash Whatagain. Bixa - is that a susuchayote - Mirliton next to the green beans? It looks such a dark green. Those potatoes look wonderful Mick and your tomatoes are stunning. We have all but given up with tomatoes now but the hot summer is coming so may relent and try again.

Bixa - is that a susuchayote - Mirliton next to the green beans? It looks such a dark green. Yes, Tod. I didn't think that variety would be any good, I guess because it's so dark. But it's exceptionally flavorful and very tender. It's Mick and the Beanstalk! Mick, your garden is beautiful. This is the first time I have a good idea of what the whole thing looks like. No wonder you get all kinds of positive comments from your neighbors.

Mich, what is pepper squash? Pepper squash is another name for an acorn squash. Do you have acorn squash there? I used both names in case it was called that elsewhere.

I used both names in case it was called that elsewhere. Oh, I see! I read it as two different squash. I love acorn squash, which is common in the US, but I never encountered it in Mexico.
