Yes, I used to try telling punnish jokes in Spanish to my Mexican friends. It's a tribute to their loyalty that we are still friends.
There was the long joke about the plátano with a reference to a relacíon platónica. Very labored, didn't work.

Yeah, you have to think the whole joke through before telling it. I told the cats&mice-in-heaven joke in Spanish to a friend, getting all the way to the punchline before I realized it referenced something that doesn't exist here.

I suspect it may well be true, if the product is actually sold now under the name Wick - because in German, W is used for the sound which in English is indicated by V, and in German V is pronounced more or less like F - the end result for Vicks being the German equivalent of what you can work out for yourself in English!
