It's not all that surprising when you think of how some dogs want to be the first to jump in a car, because they (think they) know the destination.

Ginger, who was a street dog, had to be taught to go in the car. He was almost sick with terror the first time, but is now the owner of the car & I'm his chauffeur. He will get in other people's vehicles, but only with me. When I first moved in this house, we went for a very long walk & wound up pretty far away as it was getting dark and starting to rain. Okay -- so I was lost. So what?! I finally managed to flag down a moto-taxi with a passenger already in it. He and the driver waited patiently while I begged Ginger to get in. He'd approach, have second thoughts, and back off until I finally picked him up & put him in. No real point to this story, but when he realized it was sort of like his car and he was with his human, he started enjoying the ride. He was so cute sitting on the floor of the moto-taxi with his little fuzzy head poked between the bars behind the driver, looking out at the world bumping by.

My current dog hates the car,any cars,I guess being abandoned by the highway and watching his sister get creamed made an impression.

Yes, one dog my family had knew the only reason to get him in the car was to go to the vet, and my mother was the only person who could order him to do it. He would shake like a leaf during the whole trip and generally his worsts fears about getting a shot came true each time.

Poor thing. But it reminds me of this cartoon. "Ha ha ha Biff" has become a byword in my family.
