...and the problem is?...I like Catherine's tatoo, it looks like it could be a silver chain and part of her pearl necklace.

No problem. At age 66, you don't give a damn anymore.

It's a good thing you're getting old, Kerouac, as you desperately need prunes.

The brother of a friend of my kids' is a conscientious tattoo artist. He explained that he doesn't do tattoos in the summer because of the skin's reaction, and there are places on the body that he refuses to tattoo because, over time, the shape of that part of the body changes and the tattoo will look different.
In Lamu, Kenya, a few years ago, we met a youngish American woman who was there on her own. She was a bicycle courier in Washington, D.C. Though the weather was hot and humid, she was wearing long sleeves and trousers. I asked whether she was respecting local Muslim sensibilities, but she said, no, but that her head-to-foot tattoos might shock the locals.
This said, I agree with Kimby and Kerouac -- I find tattoos tacky, no matter who is wearing them or what they look like.
I'll just go eat my prunes now.

I find them really, really unappealing as well. I've never seen one that would make me change my mind no matter how"pretty" others may find it or how well done it is.
