I watched this and once again counted my blessings that I never had to or hope to be behind a desk at an office, for work. I have enough difficulty staying on the computer at home for any extended period of time,(never more then 2 hours at a stretch). The only job I ever had to sit for long periods of time was in college when I worked as a PBX operator and I was real young.
How have I never seen this thread before and how funny that you popped it up today of all days! Thank you Kerouac and Mossie!!!
After a bit of a bizarre day, that ended with me being informed of my promotion, I needed some lessons in head banging and dealing with office stress brought on by decisions made a couple of "others" earlier in the day.
I'm very happy about the promotion, though I receive no increase in salary. Instead, it involves some major changes in job responsibility and title, but its all for the good.
For some time a "strategy day" was booked which none of us were looking forward to, planning, brainstorming and similar nightmares (I have dome so may of these).
Start time 9.15 and we would be going off site. At 9.15 the MD addressed us and went over what might happen on a "strategy day".....
Then said there was no way we were doing this and to give thanks for all our hard work and to get a day's break, that we were all going to the seaside for the day! Sure enough, a coach rolled into the car park, it was loaded with seasidey stuff, food, wine, beers etc. and off we went to an enormous empty Norfolk beach at Holme.
We had a great day rounded off with a meal and drinks in a Norfolk pub.
That was typical of my company and if more companies treated their staff like that productivity would be so much better.
