We have just been on an inspection of the house we are buying in Marminiac in the Lot. We were camping in the small town of Cazals (4 kms away from our new house). Some 5 or 6 kms on the other side of Cazals is the tiny village of Gindou. We were impressed to see it hosts a film festival next week. I am sure Kerouac will find a link.

You are welcome to stay with us next year and visit the festival. We drove through the village (which is beautiful and tiny) today. The outdoor screen is erected. There is the salle des fetes if the weather turns rainy. We also passed a small covered stage with a table and chairs which we guessed was the place for what the flyer called "tchatches" (=discussions). We also like it that the mayor of our village (Marminiac) is a professional accordion player. We ate dinner on Monday at a restaurant in Cazals (4 kms from our new house). Friendly woman runs it and on Sunday had organised a dinner-blues evening with 120 covers. I don't know how they coped. We were staying at the municipal campsite (again full marks) and for breakfast bought pains au chocolat and went to sit at outside tables at her place. She recognised us as we arrived this morning and called out "Deux grandes cremes".

There will be a room with a double bed, another with twin beds - and a small tent that takes two very close friends.

Ah. Bluff called, or irresistable opportunity? Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference.
I don't think I'll get to go to France for another year and a half, early spring, unless some frequent flyer type wants to sponsor my trip to the Lot. Would have been fine with the tent.
