I will probably make tuna salad tomorrow for sandwiches. It is based roughly on the tuna salad I grew up eating but contains much more chopped celery and other vegetables, so yes, it falls apart in a sliced bread sandwich but fares much better stuffed into a baguette. In any case, I don't eat it in public so nobody can see what a mess I make.

Not only too hot to cook but too hot to summon up an appetite.
I've been eating a lot of salads and sushi rolls. Snacking on cheeses and "cold cuts" of meat (salami, ham and the like).

The summer heat is well and truly here - 30C is not over the top but since the latest spring rain we are now suffering with humidity also. Today I got Mr.Tod out in the garden before 9am to pick some beautiful iceberg lettuces for a Caesar Salad tonight. Rinsed and floating in water in the fridge now, the leaves will be super crunchy. I have made my own croutons in the airfryer from old panini bread. The entire Pecorino Romano is grated, the anchovies are on standby, and the shop bought salad dressing is ready - It's a very good one we like. Making a coddled egg, garlic, etc etc sauce/dressing is too much trouble and no better. What I will toss in are some poached large shrimp I cooked earlier.

With record breaking heat and advisories almost daily the past 2 weeks or so with no relief in sight the idea of cooking leaves little to be desired. With the stove that we have in the 2 room "shoebox" being unfamiliar to us (the oven specifically we have barely used at all) and little to no counter space we have resorted to umpteen different salads and cold soups, lots of yogurt and fresh fruit.
