Quoting K2 Deyana asked I saw him recently . I had never been a fan of his later stuff but enjoyed his early music (albeit later) My sister is a great fan and this was her birthday pressie from me. I did not expect to enjoy it quite so much but this concert was quite a revelation , he is unbelievably fit at 71 years ; not just strutting his stuff but he can still kick a football almost to the back of the stadium. His voice is not too bad and well supported by his extraordinary backing band ; such a talented group of musicians and singers ,especially the sax player Jimmy Roberts. Some of you may have seen a pic of him in the fa la la la thread ... here are a few more

For about the last 10 years, France has had collective revival shows for a lot of the faded stars and also the one hit wonders. They get about 20 of these people together and do a tour of all of the major music venues of France. They get to sing their one and only hit song in the case of the one hit wonders and the very lucky has-been stars might even get to sing two songs. There is usually also an aging 'locomotive' -- a former big star dragged out of retirement with a big cheque to motivate more people to buy tickets.
Technology has now apparently progressed enough so that they're trying something new next year (in addition to the stuff above, not to replace it). Four dead local stars are being brought back holographically (Claude François, Dalida, Joe Dassin and Mike Brant) with a live chorus and dancers. This has already been done in music videos around the world (not to mention television commercials), but this is the first big live stage production, so it ought to be interesting to see how creepy it turns out. The four singers appeared on countless variety shows over the years, so there is a ton of material to feed into the computer and have it spit out fake people. If it's a big hit, they won't even ask for higher salaries in the coming years!
And then we'll be able to do away with real people entirely. Actually, when you think of some of the prima donna hissy fits that some of the big stars pull (yes, I'm talking about you, Madonna, but not just you), it would be interesting if the producers could pull perfect artificial stars out of their bag of tricks and replace them when they are misbehaving.

She has kind of dropped from sight in France, a bit less so in Belgium. Her younger sister Helena Noguerra is now more popular in France but more as an actress than as a singer.

Legendary drummer Viola Smith died just two years ago at the age of 107 and was one of the drumming pioneers of the big bands. She was erased from just about all musical history because musical historians absolutely never think about female musicians of those times, just the singers.
