Wind!

A really strong hot wind is blowing outside -- one of those that suddenly sounds like a freight train, and that picks up, dies down and changes direction. Every bone in my skull feels the pressure and the madly jangling wind chimes aren't helping. The worst is that this house is surrounded by brittle trees like eucalyptus and willow and some fair sized pieces are falling all around.

We must have sent you our European wind from yesterday. Actually, I did not see a single branch down in Paris, although trees were uprooted all over western France. I attribute it to the fact that all of the trees are bare, so the wind doesn't have any hold on the empty branches.

Good theory, and maybe a city provides a little more protection by breaking the wind up.
What kind of trees were blown down in western France? Besides destroying beauty, the wind could have ruined orchards.

Ehm... two months ago. Snow is lovely but after a while it just gets to you. Problem is... snow that's not been melted away slowly turned into ice. Then it snows over again -> DANGEROUS !

I've lived where there is snow and ice. Really, few things are as pretty as the world after an ice storm -- which is so destructive.
My feeling is that there are two things that fall out of the sky and that are white. Both are equally undesirable.

We've got a wind chime outside but we buried the clapper (or whatever it is called) to keep it quiet. The Cape Doctor has been really strong recently in fact today is calm, I hope my poor veggie plants are ok.
