Looks like it should smell but no smell at all.

I've probably shown this before. Disocactus flagelliformis which has lived d outdoors for about 10 years now.

They are stems.

I am experiencing rampant, starry-eyed admiration and yes, envy. That is glorious, Mick.

A while back you commented that the blooms on my Agave were going to be "spectacular", Mick. Well, that's not really the word for its display, but it's kind of nice anyway. The bloom clumps open from the bottom and work up ~ Here is the second clump starting off ~ As you can see, I have lots of these night bloomers to look forward to ~ Bud picture taken at 8 pm ~ Here is that same bud two hours later ~

Yes a bit underwhelming. The spike was more impressive than the flowers. The night bloomers really make up for it though.

As you can see, I have lots of these night bloomers to look forward to ~ I'm trying to imagine you getting up in the dead of night to catch the blooms at their most spectacular.

They bloom for quite a few hours. This morning @8:20 there were two of the flowers waving in the strong wind we're having.
What I want, what I really, really want, is for the >good< night-blooming cereus to get mature enough to bloom. The one I show in the pictures is a prolific grower, but the flowers are scentless. I whined about this to a friend and she gave me a plant of the good one. The good variety is commonly called Queen of the Night. I call the one I have Baroness of the Night because it lacks the queenliness of scent. Several years ago I had the good one. I lived in a house with a very narrow front yard and when the Queen bloomed, the gorgeous smell permeated the entire house.

Beautiful! I defy anyone to show me a floral arrangement with a more striking, or more effective combination of colors, form, and texture. Succulents rule and Mick is an artist.

Bixa, I’d like to take the plaudits for the last picture but I can’t.
This originally belonged to my mother in law. I gave her a cactus that she kept outside all year round. She also had a pot of Sedum sieboldii, Mrs Cactus wedding bouquet flower and would take bits of it and poke them in with the cactus (Rebutia). Yes, I have repotted it since she died but the combination is really down to her.
It works so well together.
