The cacti look like they are not panting at all -- they are loving it. Not really. In nature they could send their roots down as far as necessary to find moisture. But those pots heat up and the roots can fry. And succulents can get sunburn just as we can.

Oh Bixa I do love those doggie beds! As a matter of fact I am going to get the handyman to knock one up for Patchy. Winter is nearly here and she will be sleeping indoors. Getting off the wall-to-wall carpet might help the itch......Sorry to go off the subject but I am delighted you showed us your doggies resting in comfort.! I see near the doorway a black dog in a round bed. Thats what Patchy has at the moment.
Now a comment on your Impala lillies....Mine all died due to over watering. My fault for planting succulents mixed with other water loving plants. Lesson learned. Yours look superb.

Oh happy day Bixa! I did have a Kudu Lilly - a beautiful white flower, but due to the over watering it collapsed in a heap. I regret not instructing the gardener to move it.

But for you I’ll make an exception but you mustn’t tell anybody.

Its specific epithet is highly descriptive! It is budding and blooming like mad. You are a real maestro of succulents, Mick.

Lovely but a bit lonely.
Do you ever see bees visiting the cactus flowers?

It’s a baby. Only 15 months old.
Yes, bees do visit the flowers but not so much these days.

Some nice sights greeted me this morning. Here is a bit of beauty against the top of the ugly old carport ~ The Hoya carnosa has this single umbrel of blooms. It's lovely with the morning light shining through it, but I had to duck underneath to get a picture ~ Holding it up for a better look ~
