Great bugs, great pics! Does that grasshopper actually have brown wings, or is that a trick of the light? That last picture is wonderful, with the contrast of the rigid grass background and the curves of the butterfly. Um, you of course realize that is a perfect barkcloth design?

Fantastic, Rikita! Where was the red slug taken? I'm assuming that's not a local creature.

actually i took that one in the harz mountains in germany. no idea why the slug had that strange colour, but unless someone set some exotic slugs free there, it must have been local.

thanks! yours are great too! i especially like the second one with the butterfly, the composition is great, and the lines the grass in the background form somehow emphasize the butterfly...

We've had a lot of June Bugs and Fireflies lately. I need to take some pics and post them later on.

beautiful! the focus seems a bit off (on the bamboo rather than the butterfly) but the composition is very nice, and the colours are great! i tried to photograph butterflies sometimes, but not with much success. it's not easy! what i have instead, is this little fellow:

Exquisite, both of them in different ways! The first one has an almost op-art effect, and the second is beautiful and fun, with the added fascination of the perfect individual tufts. Yes, I almost didn't post that butterfly because of the blurriness. That was one of my very first efforts when I first got a digital camera. Right now I'm so frustrated about not being able to post any new pictures because of my usb problem, that I just had to post something.

oh, it was definitely still worth posting, it is a very nice picture! sometimes the blurriness is only possible to see when you see the photo on a big screen. actually happens to me often, that on the small camera screen the photo seems fine, but then when i have it on the ocmputer, it turns out to have the focus at the wrong part...
what usb problem do you have?

The house I moved from in April had quite a few black widows that liked to take up residence on the porch. The trick is to learn to recognize them from the back. Telling people to recognize them from the red mark on the abdomen doesn't make a lot of sense unless everyone were willing to pick up spiders and turn them over. I see them quite often here too. Along with small scorpians, praying mantis, walking sticks and we also have tarantulas out in the country.

This monster moth is perched on the picture frame on the wall above the computer. These moths are seasonal and can be fairly alarming when you go into a dark room and put your hand on the light switch where one is resting. I measured, and this one is 6 1/2" from wingtip to wingtip. [reply # 17]Mothra!!!!

I just love the wet texture of the human skin and that of the frogs, plus the perfect composition and color mood of Rikita's picture.
And dammit, Casimira, you create genius pictures every time you aim your camera where there's water!
