It is the strangest thing...to me anyway - we only get sunsets in winter. Must have something to do with dust particles in the air or the low humidity.

Stunning HTMB!!!! Fumobici, where was that taken? It almost looks Ukranian. Htmb's sunset *is* stunning, I can never capture one as well on the rare occasion I get the chance. My photo is Venice, or mostly the Canale della Guidecca really.

Ooooo, Htmb ~ you caught exotic cities in the sky! Exquisite, peaceful photograph.
Fumobici, I am gnashing my teeth with envy. That photo is my most romanticized mental image of Venice, but on steroids! Glorious picture. Thanks for showing it & have fun.

Ahhhhh... Venice. It is quite beautiful. (Are you in Venice at present?)

Yes, casi I am. Venice elicits very complicated and ambivalent emotions in me. It is however immensely photogenic and heartbreakingly beautiful, although I'll have to wait to digest them all before I do a proper and reasonably comprehensive report on it. I may not get a chance to photograph a sunset tonight, it's begun to rain.

I am so envious. I look forward to your report. I will hold back right now from asking the gazillion questions I have running through my head.
I will say however, do not underestimate your photography skills. I have never seen even a mediocre pic of yours.

I will say however, do not underestimate your photography skills. I have never seen even a mediocre pic of yours. If you have any tips or advice though, now's the time as I'm only here until Sunday. I was out in showers all afternoon and it's really begun coming down so I may be done for today. My feet are sore in any case. If it continues like this tomorrow I may even have to go to a museum or two which I only ordinarily do when the weather is bad. I've managed to negotiate some conversations in Italian and a barista even complimented me--and baristas here don't have tip jars so he may have even been sincere. Sometimes it seems like forever when I'm trying to come up with the correct word or construct a workaround.

I thoroughly trust your aesthetic FB. Pictures of rain in Venice would be lovely but, I hope it abates so that you can get out and about. I have always been fascinated by the place. Enjoy!!!!

It was raining like a motherjumper today and I took a trip to Padova to see the famous Saturday market. This more conventionally attractive sunset greeted me upon my return. This is again from the Riva dei Sette Martiri. The clouds are less dynamic, but the sunset colors were more vivid than the last one. Honestly though there are many better sunsets in this thread than this one.

But not perhaps, in better places.

I think that photo has just the right amount of colour. I know we all fall for the really garish sunsets, but this photo allows one to admire the buildings rather than being fixated on the sky.

It is the strangest thing...to me anyway - we only get sunsets in winter. We tend to get a sunset every day. I've never seen the sun hanging trying to decide whether to set or not. It goes down every day without fail, summer or winter.

Aah Mark...I should have known better. You caught me red handed. What I should have said was "we only get red sky sunsets in winter" - the rest of the year the sun simply sinks below the horizon without setting the sky on fire.

What are those orchards? (Yes, I'm sure that you already told us in the past.)
You'll get even more colour when the sirocco blows in from Morocco!

Olive trees K2. From horizon to horizon. The wind has changed now and it's quite strong at times so we are getting some good sunsets. There is bare ground around the trees so there can be some dust in the air.

I was nearly certain that they were olive trees, but there was that tiny possibility that they might have been orange trees, so it seemed wise to me to ask again rather than make assumptions.

I wish they were orange trees. A bit of as mix would be good at least.

Just lovely sunrise Lizzy.
Orange trees also have the wonderful quality of perfuming the air in the Spring when they bloom.
