I'm glad you said that, Kerouac. It made me look back up the page, and there are some real jewels that I'd not seen at all.

There are always several new and amazing photos from various people whenever one doesn't open this thread for a couple of days. That's why I've bookmarked my favorite photo threads and asked for emailed notifications of new posts in them. If I only used the 80 recent posts feature, I'd miss so much.

That's a wonderful picture, Kerouac. It looks like the cover of a Popular Science magazine of the 30s, or maybe the front of a science fiction novel of that era.

You're betraying your age again, Bixa. Actually, the red dots are part of a perpendicular axis that passes through the Cité Europe shopping mall at the entrance of the Channel tunnel. The red masts stretch for a kilometer or more across the parking lots, though the shopping mall and out the other side. It is a truly magnificent visual at night and does indeed evoke those magazines that my grandparents told me about.

*snork!* (although I will get you for that, you know not where, you know not when)
Are they there for sheer beauty, with no other function?

No function whatsover -- it is just decoration.

I am just lucky that I have a big railroad bridge to cross on my way to the nursing home, which gives me an unobstructed view of the sky -- a hard thing to find in Paris.
