Is that the same steam, Kimby? It looks just lovely.
That pic could have been taken anywhere around here. It's very similar.

Same stream, a short ways upstream from the icy picture.
There are actually little trout in this stream, enough that kingfishers (a bird) hang out here on the lookout for a meal. Once I saw a snake with a little trout in its mouth swimming in the stream. (We call streams "creeks" around here, and the old-timers pronounce it "crick")

So creeks are streams?
Creeks sound so much better. If there are trout in the creek than it must be connected to a river? I think you said it was, actually.

All these photos have given me a great desire to go see some huge body of water, so lovely and full of sun! ;D Indeed. I want to see some such bodies too.

Local usage where I grew up was that a creek was a really small stream, hardly better than a ditch, except with moving water. It was normal for creeks to completely dry up in hot weather, whereas streams would remain in activity, even if they got down only to a trickle sometimes.
I certainly would never expect to see a fish the size of a trout in anything that I would call a creek. Tadpoles at best.

Which country is that, K? What a magnificent view. But are you sure that's a lake? looks more like a pond to me.

It's all relative. This is Switzerland, of course, perhaps the top of the Grand Saint Bernard pass on the Italian border.

There are some views in the Black Forest along the Rhine that are somewhat similar to that. Germany is a vastly underrated country for scenery -- underrated particularly by the Germans who are always going elsewhere!

well the problem is that it is sometimes cheaper to go elsewhere than to travel inside germany. i'd like to go to the alps at some point, and i'd be happy with the german alps - but it just isn't exactly cheap there... well on the other hand, this year the only time i went abroad was three minutes in poland (just crossing hte bridge at frankfurt/oder) - but also inside germany the only place i traveled to was my bf's town, and a climbing area near it... oh well...
