Did any of you read Sophie Hannah Hercule Poirot books ? I read 2.5 of them, quite acceptable. The atmosphere is there, the arrogance of an elite class living in castles is well depicted and Hercule is irritating. Plots are so-so, as often in Agatha 's books 'tiré par les cheveux' (exaggerated). Good reading.

Oh and did you know that some people have inferred from the books that Hercule Poirot was born in Ellezelles, so a fake birth certificate was issued and a statue of him is in the town ?
As for me i have always considered him to be from the flemish bourgeoisie, frenchspeaking. God knows why.

Did any of you read Sophie Hannah Hercule Poirot books ? No, but in general I find that books written by a contemporary writer who tries to imitate the style of a popular dead one are not a success. Offhand, none come to mind, but I have tried several and just didn't like them. Even PD James, who was a good detective story writer, writing a sequel to Pride and Prejudice as a detective story (Death Comes to Pemberley) didn't pull it off.
