I pull up outside this "hair salon" almost everyday to drop off my housemaid in the late afternoon. Inside there is a mirror and a pair of clippers for attending to mens hair. Some guys must have a lot of faith

Well, just take a look at the illustrated haircut at the bottom! If they can't give you the chic cut at the top, they give you the one at the bottom.

The three pictures on this page are all so exotic (to me) in such wildly different ways!

What cute little pussycats! I bet they are made of balsa wood in Indonesia! I love the bright colours probably handpainted as well. Lovely photos!

For the past three years, my mother's nursing home has participated in the French Telethon, raising money for muscular dystrophy and lots of other genetic diseases. I find it rather remarkable, considering that government funds do not really cover its own needs, but the personnel go well beyond the call of duty to participate. The Telethon was starting tonight, and the principal money raising event today was African soup for 1€. There were signs all through the neighborhood, even painted on the asphalt of the street to direct people to the nursing home. And as entertainment, there was a "world fashion show" put on by the employees and the residents to display the style of the various cultures of the employees and the residents: Algeria, Morocco, China, Vietnam, Mali, Togo, Senegal, Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Burkina Faso... I arrived just as it was ending, but I managed to get a few final photos....

Incongruous....the patients' and visitors' smoking shelter in the car park at the hospital where I work....they tried to ban it but it's unenforceable....

Although telephone booths are disappearing everywhere in the world, some of the ones that still exist are the last refuge of those who have nothing.

That's a clever substitute rolling pin. And you can drink it when you're done. Amboseli's two shots are both beautiful in different ways. Glad this thread got bumped up. I hadn't looked at it in months.
