I'm sure the other policy makers here are reading your suggestions & considering them. Incidentally, I just modified my response #297 to address your question about using Chrome's larger text feature. that's good to know. (both points)

Missing posts? Take a look at this. The first screen shot is of the 'Recent' list of posts. Note the times of the posts in the red boxes - Now take note of the time of this post - Shouldn't it fit in between the previous shown posts? Or am I missing something?

Further - if I click on the compass link then it is there.

I'm not completely sure I understand what the question is, but .........
For some reason, there were two identical threads started by Don Cuevas, one minute apart. I only saw one & posted in it. A while later I saw that in fact the thread had been duplicated & that Kerouac had posted in the other one. Since that thread was the older twin, by one minute, the other thread was merged into it.
Perhaps that caused it to be out of sequence in the Recent list.

Not a question Bixa, more an observation that is of little importance but curious. It's just that if you click on the 'Recent' link the OP by Don isn't there, but K2's reply is. If you though clicked on the Compass link for the threads since you last logged on, then the OP there. I used the 'Recent' link this a.m. and saw K2's post which confused me as I'd not seen the OP before it. Your explanation may be what has happened but as I say, it's just a curiosity.

I only came to say that I changed my "skin" from "Big Buttons" to "Ice Cream Parlor". I'm enjoying the bright colors and the roll over animations. This all is a result of my improved Internet connection speed.

You're a bold one, Don Cuevas! If you miss the bigger type size, please see #292 on page 10 of this thread.

Type size is generous and easy to read. Maybe because I'm viewing this with Google Chrome, and before I was using Safari? Who knows? It works fine.

Sorry if it's already been pointed out (didn't have time to look through the whole thread) but the Search "feature" doesn't work properly.

There are two different search features. The one that appears within the threads is provided by the host forum. There is another one in the menu at the top right of each page which works somewhat better.
There is a new version of proboards due to be rolled out sometime during 2012. The search engine is one of the things that is supposed to be revamped.

it just needs to be fixed, not re-vamped. I've tried both and neither work. I was searching for a thread I started in 2009. When I user either of the search features, the thread is not found - when I Google the same phrase, the thread is found (3rd listed occurrence on the web).

The proboards Search is the one at the top of every thread page. We just have to wait for them to fix that one.
The Search engine accessed by the button in the main menu is what it is -- the best of what was available. It does not seem to be performing as well now as when it was installed, but will remain for the time being.
A Google search box has been added & can be found at the bottom of every page. On my computer at least, it is the last thing on the page to load, so give it a moment.

I have never been able to get any of them to work, whether it's the one on the page, the top of the board, whatever. I always get a screen that says unable to find search results, will report back to Proboards support page or whatever. I had to go through 13 pages in the Galley last night to find the Pesto thread to post in,only because I remember there was one from some time ago. If we want to avoid replication of threads, this is not the way to do it IMHO. It's very frustrating.

The search function here is indeed a mess. Charitably speaking.
The best workaround I've found is to use a Google search but to preface your search term(s) with:
"site:http://anyportinastorm.proboards.com"

Thanks for that. I never find anything I'm looking for unless it is less than a week old.

I really liked the OLD search function on proboards. It was possible to plug in one's own name and pull up all the posts that quoted or mentioned oneself, thereby being able to quickly respond to any questions/comments made about one's posts.
Can't figure out a way to do that with the new search function. Which IMO is barely functional. Haven't tried a google search with fumo's preface. Must try that.

I only use the box at the bottom, which appears to work every other time. Sometimes, even using the exact name of a thread, it can't find it.

Hey! Can we also get Google to fix the problem of not being able to follow a link directly to the thread it's supposed to link to?

The Google thing has been removed. It worked when it was installed, but then began directing to a message post box rather than the post itself, and was also causing other interior links to do the same.

The problem mentioned in 319 is the reason the google search box was removed.

Why do I keep getting a little screen with a Proboards opinion survey request? It keeps popping up and and is really annoying. That's my opinion.
