If DonCuevas doesn't see your post, you might try PMing him. He's a hardened Mac user. I don't know who else here is.

Is there something askew with the board regarding logged in users in the last 24 hours? I was online last pm, logged, posted, was not invisible, and yet not listed on the bottom of the board.

Anyporters, please disregard this post - it's only here to assist with the debugging of an image posting problem I'm experiencing. Thanks

P****fu**kit is a real pain. They have got a 16 year old geek in, who is "improving" the site. He should be shot on sight.

Agreed, Mossie! I got some breathlessly perky email telling me how great things are gonna be. Since I PAY to use the site, I was obviously okay with it just the way it was.

I'm having a few problems getting into some threads to post and getting a screen saying, Sorry, URL not being served on this site. It is in 2 threads I tried to post in several times today. I have a new computer and I don't know if it's something with it or whatever.

I had no trouble getting into the marching band thread under sports, casimira. Your issue could be caused by any number of things. Browser, computer, network connection, filter. I'm sure you know all this; it's has got to be frustrating.

And would you believe that I am now having problems as well.
It has happened before and to resolve it all I needed to do was update the flash player. However, when I try it this time a notice tells me I can't as I don't have administrator rights - which I do have. I'm working on it.

My mental image of Mark involves a cape & tights.

Over the past two weeks, the Flash player has demanded about 5 or 6 updates, which I begrudgingly did each time.

If you watched The Incredibles bixa you'd know that capes are a bad thing. Tights are good though.
I deleted Real Player as it seems to have a conflict with Adobe Flash Player and for now all is back to normal.

I need to see The Incredibles.
Real Player almost defeated me today, but I seem to have the upper hand for now. So strange that the jelly bean update for Android devices will not support Adobe Flash. Does that Mean Something?
Anyway, I came to this thread to report that I continue to have problems with that insanely annoying "404 not found" message, but have found a work-around. I haven't tested this anywhere but firefox at the moment. (I'm not speaking to Chrome & my sanity demands that I strictly avoid IE.)
Instead of clicking on the thread title in order to be taken to the last unread post in a thread, click over in the far right column, on the date/time stamp ("Yesterday at 9:15pm" or whatever).

Bixa - open a branch, say Free Trade Zone. In the box of the thread title, say Famous People Game, is there a little 'New' icon? Some boxes will have and some wont depending on when you last logged on, yes? Click on the thread title and are you taken to the start of the thread?
Now click on the thread title of a thread without a 'New' icon. Do you get the 404 page?
On either, with or without a 'New' icon, click on the box for the 'Last Post' and you're taken to that last post?
That's what happens with me. Interesting. I never bother with that though, I just go through the Compass icon.

By the way, my problem with Adobe Flash Player resurfaced. Don't know why. To cure it (again) I ended up using the Adobe website to download an uninstaller that got rid of all copies of the flash player. Then I tried to download from them the Flash Player but still got the warning that I didn't have admin rights to do so, so it failed -------------- however, I then had a cup of coffee while I thought about it and browsed round, accidentally dropping across a video that wouldn't play because I didn't have the flash player. It gave a warning 'you do not have flash player plug in, download it from here' - I did, got the admin warning again after trying to install it - but for some reason it did install and worked as it should.

I thought I had to click right on the date/time line in that box, but you're right -- it only needs to be in the box itself. Thanks, Mark -- this will make it a great deal easier and faster to get some help from proboards Support. Good idea to enter through the compass, too.

My problems with Realplayer were similar. It wasn't the admin rights, though, it was warnings about configuration. I uninstalled & reinstalled from different sites & the third one finally worked. Still, when I delete a video, it tells me there was a problem deleting it, even though the video is gone. My theory is that all these programs are scrambling around to be compatible with Windows 8 and some babies are getting thrown out with the bathwater.

Okay, how paranoid do I have to be about this: I have an Android tablet. Last night I saw an app I wanted. It's the first one I've bought, as my other apps so far have been free. I clicked to acquire it & got a message asking did I agree to purchase the app with my "Visa xxx-1234". The Xs were as shown, but the last four numbers were the actual last four numbers of my Visa card. HOW IN THE WORLD DID GOOGLE PLAY KNOW THAT? ?!! I did go ahead & purchase the app & received an email corroborating that.

If you've bought anything while logged into Gmail, or even (possibly) if you've simply bought anything online while using Google Chrome, it's remembered your details somehow.

I have a problem that is going to make me pick up my computer & hurl it forcefully to the ground. Also, I found out a friend with an entirely different computer, newer Windows, etc. etc. has the same problem, so maybe someone here has suffered & overcome it.
The deal is, when I am attempting to delete or move multiple pictures, sometimes the #@$%^&*! computer will also COPY the damned things. Sometimes it will do it over & over & over again, leading to an endless cycle of trying to delete the items I only wished to copy or delete in the first place.
Can anyone please suggest a solution for this? Thanks.

Are you selecting them by holding down Ctrl and clicking on the photo(s) to be deleted?
If so, do it slower. What I think you are doing if you are doing it this way, is putting the pointer over a photo whilst holding down Ctrl, then you are clicking the mouse to select it - but as you do so you are then moving the mouse/pointer slightly or moving on to the next one before releasing the 'click'. This, I believe ('cos it has happened to me many times) is copying the photos selected. In other words, be more precise with the click select and mouse operation.
It is operator error and not the computer methinks.
Another solution when deleting a number of photos from a folder, but not all of them, is to re-arrange them by click/drag so all those to be deleted are together. Then, holding the left click down, is to 'sweep' over them highlighting/selecting them all (to be deleted) - then release, right click - delete.

Ah-ha! Yes, I do generally hold down Ctrl as I go from one to another photo to be deleted. I thought I was being efficient. Your second suggestion is brilliant & works like a charm. However, my computer no longer allows me to shove one file aside with another. In other words, if I drag a picture to a line already occupied, it just sets there superimposed over a couple of pictures already in that line-up. If there are a bunch of photos in the group, dragging the one to be deleted all the way to the bottom is a drag, so to speak. Is there a solution for that? THANKS!!!

Open the folder with the photos in it, those to keep and those to be deleted. Minimise the folder and adjust the edges so it is long and thin and on the full left half of the screen. Make a new folder on the desktop (name it whatever you like or default as 'new folder'). Open it, minimise, make it half the screen and put it on the right side. Make both folders as close to each other as possible.
The photos to be deleted, left click, hold down, sweep over to right side - it doesn't matter if they overlap. When all are done, delete the excess folder in one go. The only 'drag' is having to scroll down occasionally on the old folder to get to those that you want to drag across to delete.
You can sweep left or right, top to bottom etc, whatever you are comfortable with, into a separate folder that is positioned close by.
No?

'Nother question, please ~~
There was recently all kinds of hoo-ha about the Java update that was a security risk. I get the little pop-up all the time now to update my Java, but have been afraid to do so. But should I?
Thanks.
