Htmb, maybe it is a Mac thing. I see the arrow the same way on Windows as I see it on my Android tablet. For instance, right now it's setting quietly just above the box that says "View all smilies".
I just scrolled down slightly in order to access "Post Quick Reply" & the arrow is now below the "View all smilies" box, with the arrow legs slightly higher than parallel to the bottom of the message box.
The arrow stays in position, it's the forum that moves. Is that not how it works for you?

Yes. It works that way......one arrow stays at bottom right.....with two arrows one also resided at upper right.

Well, the plug-in only mentions one arrow. Two sounds like a good idea, but must have been an anomaly.

Yeah. It was pretty cool,
My down arrow is currently stuck in the down position. Must be an issue with my tablet.

On my Windows XP machine I get an arrow floating bottom right. It points up if I click and hold the slider bar to scroll down, and if I click and hold it to scroll up, it points down when I reach the top. Still can't see the point.
I also notice there's a little extra floating box bottom right with icons to do a few extra things I wouldn't ever want to do. Looks like what I call "Version 4.0 syndrome": after version 3.0 most software develops lots of extra "helpful" features that simply slow everything down for no great gain.

If you simply click on the arrow, it will instantly take you to the top or bottom of the page, depending on the starting point.
I have Windows XP, but no floating box.

Bixa, do you have a very tiny arrow in the bottom right hand corner of your screen? If so, click on it and it should open. It's has a link for proboards support (and maybe something else).

I have used the little arrow a few times but normally I just use the scroll bar to move around.

Oh, I found it! Thanks, Htmb. That is teensy. Actually, I saw it when we first got the upgrade, but was so unimpressed with it that I obviously forgot it immediately. Maybe it's useful for some people, though.

A member says she is having trouble with making a link. Here is a quick look at making live links.
You can paste in a live url the same way as before, with no having to add tags. However, if you wish to use the Link button, be aware that writing in no text will render the url as the word "Link". If you don't want that, either write something or paste the url in both the text & the url slots.
My way of making a live text link is to a) write the text to be linked in the message box b) add any formatting -- italics, bold, etc. c) highlight the text, including any formatting tags, then d) click on the Link (one w/the globe) button.
When you do that, the text you've just written will show in the Text portion of the Link window. Simply paste in the url to which you wish to link, then click on "create link".

Practice by making posts about posting in anyport, maybe?
Here is a very positive thing about V5 -- our photos are being reproduced with much better quality than they were in V4. I used to get very discouraged on returning to my picture threads & some of the photos looked much shabbier than I remembered. Sometimes that was Photobucket's fault, but other times I'd look at the original & compare it with the one posted here & yuck. Just did a comparison of one pic in two of my hosting sites & how it looks on anyport. Quite nice.

Bixa and Kerouac, it hasn't been that long since we were all flashed with the horrid green screen signifying the death of the old ProBoards, but I have noticed this new site evolves just a bit everyday. I know it's not completely back to where you want it, and I also understand it takes time to work out all the little issues as you learn the new software. However, just a quick thanks for getting us headed towards what I'm betting will eventually be an even better than ever place to exchange information and ideas. With the fifth anniversary of AnyPort just around the corner, you two should be congratulated again and again!

Balm, absolute balm to read!
Thank you so much, Htmb. The more I learn about the new version, the more I understand why they did some of the things they did, although obviously I don't like all of them. One thing that slows down the getting-us-back-to-where-we-were process is the new necessity for having to set some universal things individually in each skin theme. Not hard, but tedious & time-consuming.
Your understanding and enthusiasm for the forum is a huge boost and certainly a big reason to continue working in this particular vineyard.
And please let me turn the tables by thanking you and all the members here who contribute with wit, intelligence & generosity.

Anyone who didn't happen to tune in on the day the screen turned black and green might hardly notice anything amiss, you've whipped our forum back into shape so fast! Thank you! (There must be more hours in the day in Oaxaca and Paris than there are in Montana!)
Couple quirks that I've noticed with the new version. (I mostly use iPhone lately, so may be different on PC.)
Recent posts - if you click on one to see its thread, it takes you to the first page, not the last (tho you can easily click to the last).
And bookmarked threads. Email notification USED to have a link that took you right to the first UNREAD post in the thread, which i found bery helpful. Now it takes you to the beginning of the thread. On threads with a lot of activity, you might have to flip back and forth through the pages.
Minor complaints. And it's getting better all the time.

We weren't the only victims of Green Slime. There were horrified members of different Proboards forums yelling around the world.
On recent posts ~~ try clicking either in the blank area to the immediate left of the thread title or on the first letter of the title. It should take you to the last post in a thread. Not as good as getting to go to your most recent unread post, but better than going to the beginning.
I greatly mourn that feature that used to take one to the most recent unread post in a thread. We currently have a request in to get a version for V5. Since I was unaware that the email notification included that nifty help, perhaps it will be reinstated there as well.
You of all people should really like the new/participated button, as it's a nice built-in bookmarks type feature. I like it a lot, & I was never a bookmarks person before
Huge thanks for the nice compliments & vote of confidence!

Bixa deserves 100% of the credit for her technical wizardry. I just roll with the punches. I would probably still be trying to figure out how to get rid of the green screen.

Thanks Bixa - and Kerouac for the handholding Bixa probably needs periodically as she powers through the morass of v5 and turns it into a template for v6!
On the mobile version, there is no space to left of thread title.
I was wrong about notification about a new post in a bookmarked thread. The link does take you to the first unread post, and also quotes a bit of it so you can decide whether to read more.
It's when I go to my bookmarks list that I have problems. I think. Still exploring...

Kerouac keeps on posting & making threads through thick & thin. Of course that's always great, but I value it particularly as I wander in a Proboards purgatory, feeling as though I've abandoned the forum itself.
Kimby, I don't use the mobile version on my Android tablet. Somewhere on here Htmb said she doesn't use it on her iPad either, for the same reason I don't -- because it seems buggy. You can go directly to Proboards Support for help with mobile issues. My suggestion would be to try using the new/participated button to get to threads that particularly interest you. (& you know I've always felt relying on bookmarks can mean missing other stuff on the forum.)
One thing I'm very happy about is that Anyport loads a zillion times faster on my tablet now than it did in V4.

Pee ess ~~ Just realized that the new/participated button has to be individually activated.
Go to Edit Profile> Settings. It's the very first thing under Forum Options.

Kimby, that has been reported to Proboards Support. Let's see if it can be fixed.
Have you tried using Anyport "straight up", i.e. not the app, but the browser version on your device? I only use Anyport on my Android tablet in the regular version. Another member here uses the regular version on her iPad. It works great, and since the upgrade, about a million times faster.

Really, try the regular version -- maybe you'll like that better.

Yikes! What does this mean?! I have yahoo email & keep it on my bookmarks bar. It's in constant use there, as I click on it throughout the day. From one moment to the next, the little icon stopped taking me to yahoo mail & instead gives me a page called neo. ~?~ At the top of the page it says: Neo who we are -- what we do -- blog & news -- resources -- jobs -- contact [<-- all clickable] It tells me: Oops! We are sorry...
You wanted to go to « /launch » but we currently don’t have that page
Why don’t you head back to the homepage and click around? No, don't think I'll click on anything, thank you. Here is the link to the usurper page: www.neo.com/launch?.rand=658416254&cleolblock=1Does anyone have any idea how this happened? Thanks.

Using a friend's computer this morning (on Firefox), I was taken to an unwanted place as well. I'm not sure if it was the same one, but it happened on two different sites, even after typing the correct address. Luckily, I was able to click on a link listed from the previous day's history and got to the right place. Since I have now just returned back home, I no longer have the problem on IE.

Well.....I saw two before, and they were floating on the page at the same time. Now I only see one, and that's even when I scrunch my page down really small. Having two arrows allowed me to scroll down part way, change my mind, and then return to the bottom, and vice versa. Basically I have to go all the way to the bottom before going back to the top. With one arrow it's not as easy. No big deal. Maybe there was a Mac update or something. I just thought I'd mention it in case you had some control over the display. I'm late to the party, but you can always use the fn key and up or down cursor arrows to leap to the top of the page or the bottom, respectively. I'm more a fan of keyboard shortcuts and less dependent on the mouse. I'm using a MacBook Air, Mac OS 10.7.5

Great news -- the personal website clickable icon (the little house) has been reinstated in the mini-profile.
In order for this to show up in your mini-profile, you need to edit your Profile under the Personal tab, where is says "website url".
Thanks, Kerouac, for the info on the strange Firefox glitch. My rogue website problem was on FF, which was squirrely all day yesterday.
