It seems to be the computer I was using earlier (does it being a Mac matter? Have no idea...). Anyway, this other computer doesn't have the "effect".

Bixa - Before I start my next photo presentation on 'Old-Fashioned Roses at Mottisfont Abbey'.... I would be grateful if you could direct me to your instructions for Saving a Copy on Word....I have never got around to doing this. I'm not sure how to embed my pictures onto the document. Sorry to bother you.

Oh heavens, Spindrift ~~ it's hardly a bother! You know how much I admire your wonderful threads and the care you take in putting them together.
I don't know if the tip about saving work on Word was ever posted here or not. I may have written it to you in PM. Whatever, it's something very simple that everyone needs to know about.
This is a very handy thing when you are setting up a thread with lots of pictures and text. For coherence and ease of loading you may want to break it up into several posts. However, you may want these posts to appear as a unit. So, how do you post them and keep people from Replying before you are finished? Simple -- you paste each part into a Word document as you go along, then copy and paste each part as a post, one after the other.
Here is what you do:
1. Open a new Word document and give it the appropriate name.
2. Set up your post and Preview and tweak it until it's the way you want it.
3. Copy what you have in the Message Box and paste it into the Word document. Save.
4. I like to put a couple of returns and a line of equals signs after each pasted post so that I can easily see where one post ends and another begins.
5. Repeat steps 2 and 3 with each subsequent post. until you have as many as you need.
6. Begin your new thread as usual -- give it a title, then copy and paste the first saved post in as the OP. Post it. Now copy the second saved post and post it. Continue until done.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Oh thank you. I'll try that. I thought it would be more complicated due to the inclusion of pictures.

It's handy because it means you never have to post until you're ready, but can set up the post while an idea is fresh in your mind.
Also, if you have some links that you may want to either use or refer back to when you make the thread, you can save them on that same Word document for ready reference.

Just a little tip about posting photos ~~
At times when a group of pictures are posted, extra space is included at the bottom of the post. I don't know why this happens, but it's another reason to Preview.
Sometimes the extra space is so large, it makes it seem as though one of the pictures is missing.

I have one report from a member of a forum stretching problem. That means that certain pages appear like this: This is not the same thing as "screen stretching", which is almost always caused by over-sized pictures or text on the page. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? If so, please report it here and include a screenshot if possible (sized appropriately!) I also received one report from another person saying that the main page opens normally for a moment, but then the right-hand column disappears. Has anyone else experienced this? Again, please report it here and a screen shot is imperative. These things can be reported to our host forum, but they need details in order to troubleshoot. Thanks!

The picture shown is what I am experiencing in 3 of the sections on here, not all. Maritime Museum,Change the Station and On the Menu. (I didn't know what it was called, thought screen stretching but ... ,whatever,is annoying, and have had it before). Thanks Also Free Trade Zone and Waterfront Park added to the list as of this writing.

I made the point about forum stretching vs. screen stretching because the distinction is important in terms of reporting a problem. It's good to know how to take a screen shot, as one picture is worth a thousand etc. It can even save you money, as emailing your tech guy a screenshot can save him a trip to your house. Very simple picture & word instructions: www.ibiblio.org/virtualcell/Tutor1/TandR/prtscr.htmlIt's Sunday, so there aren't too many members around. Let's see if more reports come in.

Thanks, Imec. Well, that's two people affected. Can you all give me details about when it happens. Casimira is getting it on at least five boards. How about you, Imec?
If the problem appears differently than the pic in #38, please send a screenshot.
Thanks.

When it happens to me,I initially get the correct screen, but only for about 2 seconds tops, then it "pops",reverts, to the image shown.

Exactly as casimira describes it. Happens randomly when trying to view any branch.

There is a report in to our host forum's Support board. Hope it can be cleared up soon.
ten minutes later ..................
Okay -- something has been done which should fix the problem. Please let me know either way!

Thank you, Imec.
I have been having a problem with all proboards forums, this one included, for at least the last 24 hours. That is, instead of being taken to the last thing posted in a thread, I'm always taken to the OP. It's very annoying.
Also, when I post something, instead of seeing what I just posted, the page jumps back to the top. Anyone else experience this?

I'll test it.
OK, it does jump to the top of the page after I post a reply, but I think it always did for me. (I always scroll down to see if my post has appeared the way I wanted it to - and to make sure there wasn't a page change I missed.)

Thanks, Casimira. And thanks for reporting it promptly. If more people report things when they have the problem, it is so much easier to take the question to the Support board. Otherwise, if it seems to be a problem for only one person, it can start a wild goose chase over the perception that it's the person's computer causing the problem.

Very slow, extremely slow loading this a.m. here and other proboards forum. May be my computer though.

No, it's not your computer. The host forum had been having a problem with that for a couple of days. At one point, I couldn't get into their Support board in order to report it.
I'm writing this 6 1/2 hours after your post, and the forum-loading is downright zippy for me. Also, checking w/Support, it appears the problem has been fixed.
Please report if the slow loading continues.

I've got the same problem as Casi and Imec. I never mentioned it because I thought it was due to my weak internet connection as I have it with completely different sites as well.
When the internet is fast everything loads as it should, when it's slow it goes into some kind of 'essentials only' mode...
