Hmmm... there are some interesting avenues of investigation there which I will pursue soon. And just like every page I have seen that addresses this problem, there are always people who think it is just a dirty keyboard issue.

Upstairs computer working again after tormenting it with the CAP LOCK + function key trick, but how long will it last? It will probably be all gone tomorrow morning... I still don't know exactly which function key is involved so I try F9, F10 and F11 in succession.

Has ProBoards been tinkering again?
Email notifications look different (prettier but less functional) and I'm NOT getting notifications on my bookmarked threads, but AM getting notifications on participated threads.
This is the reverse of how I set it up. I hope ProBoards will let me fix my settings. But I shouldn't have to.

And I'm only receiving pm notifications about half the time, and sometimes it's several hours after the pm was sent.

The phone app I've used for the past couple of years has just disappeared into cyberspace, not to be found anywhere. I've just downloaded and installed tapatalk, which I think a few others also use. Hopefully the learning curve won't be too steep. So far, the photos I've viewed look a whole lot better and are much easier to access than with my old pro boards app.

That's interesting. I always avoided the old app because people griped about it so much and somehow never bothered with tapatalk. It's kind of moot now, because ever since I got a Windows tablet I haven't even turned on my Android one.

I'm finding that the old proboards app was extremely primitive when compared to this version of tapatalk.
I don't use an app on my tablet; just on my phone.

Several people have commented on losing posts lately. I've been one of those victims and here is how you can try to remedy the situation.
First and foremost, go to your Profile to set Enable Drafts: Profile > Edit Profile > Settings > Enable Drafts (5th item)
This will mean whatever you are typing here is being saved as you type it. (in theory)
So, now you have Drafts enabled:
If your message disappears for whatever reason before you can post it, first try clicking and on Reply to see if the draft appears -- it will be in a separate, floating window. If you don't see it, scroll carefully up the page as it may be at the top. You can also exit the thread completely and re-enter it. Sometimes the draft will appear. Again, scroll if you don't immediately see it. If it doesn't appear when you re-enter the thread, try pressing Reply to see it that works.
You can also try clicking on History in your browser. The post may be there. But if it's not and you were making a picture thread, the links to the hosted pictures you were using might show up.

Of late, I have been having difficulty using the subscript font option. I will go to post in subscript but then it seems to stick and in fact gets smaller and smaller. (This happened last p.m. in the Postcard thread on Chora). I only intended to post one line in subscript but the following lines posted kept getting tinier and tinier.  |

Yeah, I saw that post & wondered what happened.
Casimira, were you posting in Preview mode, or in BBCode? The reason I ask is because when you post in Preview mode, you can't see the beginning and ending codes -- those parts in brackets.
For instance, if I want to write part of this in subscript, I would do this: [sub]writing in subscript[/sub]
If I do that in BBCode, I'm able to see the ending bracket set and thus know where to start writing normally again. However in Preview it is way too easy to accidentally keep going in subscript (or whatever you've applied -- bold, italic, etc.).
You can go to your Profile and set BBCode as your Posting Default: Profile > Edit Profile > Settings > Posting Default (6th option on page).

Never had a problem with it doing this before, only in the last 6 months or so.
I have abandon some posts as a result I got so frustrated.
I never heard of the BBCmode , and, will switch over.

Aaaarrrrggghh ~ anyone else having trouble with Flickr? I just uploaded a bunch of pictures, but F*ckr wouldn't let me put them into an existing album. The place to click for Album is grayed out. I clicked on it anyway and all I got was a pop-up to make a new album. I tried putting in the name of the existing album, thinking it would appear, but no. I needed to upload, so proceeded. Now I have two albums with the same name. Help?

I'm new to Flickr and find it much easier than Photobucket. I had a problem similar to yours the other day creating an album. Twice I thought I had done it down to the last step, but neither of these "took." I just had to wait things out and the third time it worked.
Our computer has been so flaky that I didn't think to blame Flickr.

I am wondering if proboards just changed something, or if the issue is with my tablet. I've almost always used Motor Court as a background "skin." Suddenly it's gone much lighter and the large colored parts are yellowish instead of brown. I've tried closing programs, rebooting, and logging out of anyport, but it still looks the same.

Some of the skins also totally distort the avatars. I think Bixa was faced with the horrible problem that each skin has to be treated individually for most problems rather than one "fix" working everywhere.

I certainly don't want to cause any problems. Please forget I even asked. I understand what a pain it was to adjust the skins when the software was updated. I was only asking because the change suddenly happened and I was trying to figure out if the problem was with my tablet.

No, no -- I'm glad you reported it. I was checking through the skins this morning because so many of them have their backgrounds hosted on ImagemaytheydieinhellShack. I always liked the Motor Court skin, but it was a horrible violet/gray, sort of bruise color spectrum when I looked at it. Originally it was nice sort of toasty shades. I attempted to fix it, so now it's kind of band-aid colored, at least on my monitor. Very frustrating -- we have nothing like the control we had before with picking and matching colors, plus I see that many of the colors in the various skins aren't even there, having been changed to various shades of gray. Please bear with us until we can review the skins. We'll probably just have to get rid of a bunch of them, but will give warning so Proboards won't foist some horror on people the way they did when we were dragged kicking and screaming into V5. In the meantime, here are some of the skins that still look somewhat okay. The ones with asterisks are the ones with no picture backgrounds. Big Buttons (although the text might be too light) * Big Buttons regular font * Canvas (has changed from canvas colors to ugly grays, but still a workmanlike plain skin) * Faerie Window Here Come the Tugs (missing its background picture, very bright blue background instead) * Ice Cream Parlor (no ugly surprises here -- I recommend it) * Kimono Lotus Neon Lights Night Port (missing its background picture, soft blue tones) * Philadelphia ( ditto ) * Port City (missing background, violet-blue tones) * Retro Bambi (my favorite, missing its immensely cool background picture, minty green tones) * Serenity (duller & grayer than the original, not as serene) Spindrift (missing background, icy blue tones) * Streamline Moderne Dark (missing background, yellows and greens) * Streamline Moderne (original colors have been altered, but it's usable  ) Telescope ( ditto ) Transportation Verdigris * Very Plain * |

I haven't gotten any notifications on my bookmarked threads in a couple days. I wondered if everyone had jumped ship over the holidays and stopped posting. But there ARE new posts in many of the threads. What's up with that?

Thanks for that, Lizzy! The skins were all made on an older computer which had great color, so I've wondered if the new flat screens affected the colors or if (as I suspect) it was V5 that threw everything out of whatck.
