*sigh* Went & changed my skin to Canvas & it's mostly gray on my computer. I was forced to put it to Lotus for a little cheer & to see if Lotus's colors were true. (they are)

I've been using "very plain" for the past several weeks since I need a background without a lot of distractions. I've gotten used to it, but the one thing I've noticed is that it shows font sizes as the same.
For instance, this line is supposed to be 8 points in size rather than the default of 10, but in "very plain" all the text in this post looks to be the same size.

It is showing as smaller for me. I notice 8 points doesn't show up as eight in Preview, though.
Try Ice Cream Parlor -- soft on the eyes.

Notifications are no longer coming in. ProBoards issue? Kimby, do you use an app on your phone, or just use a browser?

Thanks for the suggestion, Bixa, but I found "Ice Cream Parlor" to be tough on my (abnormal) eyes. "Very Plain" seems to work best out of all those I've tried.

What's mob free.click and why is it preventing me from accessing most any port pages?

Kimby, it's been awhile since I downloaded Tapatalk. If it's not free, it can't be more than a couple of dollars. I just don't remember.
Mobfree? Does it open your App Store?

Googled a fix for iPhone. Close Safari, double click start button, click to close Safari, go to settings, scroll down to Safari, scroll down to Clear Web History and Data.
It seemed to work briefly, though I had to re-enter my login info, but it's back! I suspect I will now have to re-log into every site I've been using regularly. Arghhh!

Yes it opens the App Store, and offers me multiple free apps which I don't want. And I can't get to the page I am trying to access while mobfree.click is hogging my screen.
What does ad-free Any Port cost?

Tapatalk is basically ad free, though a few sometimes get in here and there.

So the adware mobfree.click was completely blocking my iPhone access to Any Port. I could only look at a page for 4 seconds before it took over and redirected me to ads for Apple TV. No closing it.
I tried everything and finally hit on a solution: blocking ALL cookies,, enabling Do Not Track, and Java Script disabled. Now I could browse Any Port to my heart's content - as a Guest. I could not log back in till I re-enabled cookies "for current site only". I also re-allowed Java Script, because lots of graphics were missing.
So far so good. I expect it will be back.

Our computer has gotten so bogged down and buggy that Mr. Kimby is ordering a new one. The old one is Vista Home Premium, which Google Chrome will no longer support with updates, and the new one will be Windows 10.
Anyone have suggestions for the best way to transfer files and photos from one to the other without transferring the "bugs"?
I'm willing to spend time to do it right, but don't know what right is. (Cable the two devices together and selectively copy from old to new? What kind of cable?)
Thanks for any advice you can give me.

All my personal electronics are apple. I only use a PC at work, and even then it's old, so I'm not the best person to comment. But I'll throw in my two cents worth. The types of files and their size will matter. If it were me, I'd save important photos, word documents, excel files, etc, onto cd's or usb drives to use as needed. Surely you won't be transferring software, and your new computer should have good virus protection which should help when you go to use a file from the old computer. Do you really need to transfer all data files from your old computer to your new, or could you archive some in a creative way? Is there a file back-up program on your old PC?

We have an external hard drive that we bought as backup drive, but disconnected it to keep it from getting buggy itself, which it may already be. I don't trust it.
I don't want to burn disks. Mr. Kimby won't want to have two computers in the home office for very long. My volunteer work with multiple organizations and our spreadsheets from our Florida rental property are among the files I'd want to move. Ay yi yi!

I agree with htmb. Get a couple high capacity usb drives and transfer the files that way.

With a USB to USB cable, could I do this, without the intermediate step of transferring files to an external drive!

When viewing a memory card's contents on your computer, is there a way to fast forward instead of having to click on each & every picture?

Can you look at the thumbnails in a grid/mosaic to accomplish your goal?

Thanks, Kimby. I tried that, but there are zillions. I suspect there are just a few on the card that I still want, or I'd go ahead & wipe the card clean.

What I do: buy a new SD card and keep the old ones as backups in the event of a computer crash.
To rapidly view photos, can you put the chip back in your camera and fast forward through them?

Thanks, Kimby. It wasn't that I wanted a clean card so much as I wanted to find some photos I suspected were on the card.
I finally activated a Windows program & got to view everything & copy what I wanted. But damn -- when they say "thumbnails", they mean it literally. The pictures were so teeeeeeny.

You can adjust the size of thumbnails.
