I’ve even figured out how to do it on my iPhone. At the bottom is a button called Desktop. Click it, and the phone becomes a much smaller version of the PC version. Click reply (not quick reply), then Add Image is an option at the upper right. Seems pretty intuitive from there. After your image is uploaded, you can add text below the image URL before publishing the reply. Then look for the tiny print at the bottom of the screen that says Switch to Mobile Version. Done. Yes it works! That is useful. Thanks !

I think it's because of an update on my tablet...all of a sudden it doesnt work. I've been posting pics up until a couple of days ago with no problems. I will try with my laptop later and see if that's a problem too...

I'm still in the flip phone phase of technology. Go ahead and laugh. Everyone else does. And, I memorize phone numbers so, I have no contact names in my phone. My way of maintaining mental acuity. I still remember phone numbers from my childhood.

Casi, you aren’t alone. I also still remember the phone numbers of my childhood friends. (Just don’t ask me about the phone number I looked up 30 seconds ago!)
We still have an old TracFone (not even a flip phone, a lozenge shape) that we take hiking and biking and skiing. It uses Verizon towers which offer better coverage in our area, while the iPhones rely on iffy AT&T service.
My iPhone is mainly for internet use. And some texting. The TracFone has no QWERTY keyboard so texting is by laborious alphanumeric key-punching. Exceedingly tedious.

I don't have too much trouble switching either after a few minutes. It was in places like Thailand in internet cafés where I had lots of trouble finding the punctuation, which they moved to all of the wrong places.

I still have a paleolithic mobile. It's mostly turned off and is only for use in emergencies.

But can you do alphanumeric texting, whatagain? To type YOUR Any Port name, you’d have to hit the 9 key, 4 twice, 2, 8. 2, 4, 2, 4 thrice, 6 twice. That’s an easy one, with 6 of 9 letters being the first assigned to their number key. Throw in some numbers and you have to hit each key 4 times. A punctuation mark requires many many more strokes.

Just sticking this in here ~ Phone people: it would be so great if you all would read up the threads while using the forum on a phone. It's always obvious when a person is using a phone, because he/she only responds to the last comment and often asks questions that were answered further up the thread.

Quoting myself here because this is useful information if it works. Also, if you're trying to get in on Amazon US deals for audio books, it would work for that, too. Note that the link in the last sentence is no longer a cheapo deal. You'll have to use a current deal to test this method.

Here is a fun trick which I hope will work for everyone in countries where youtube videos get blocked ( rikita). It works for me, anyway. When you follow a link to a youtube video & get the blacked-out screen saying "Video unavailable. This video contains content from [company name], who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds.", do this: Simply copy the name directly underneath that little screen & paste it into the search slot at the top of the youtube page. Hit enter & the first hit that shows up will be the blocked video. Click on it. The blacked-out screen will show for a split second, but then turn into a regular screen showing the formerly blocked video.

I went to Lombok for 2 years with NO experience of a keyboard. Each week I would laboriously peck out a short letter to my sons, using the local coffee shop facilities. Once I complained to my boys that the letters on the keys had been worn off and I had to count the keys to find the one I was wanting to use. Son #2 photographed his keyboard and sent it to me so I had a better chance of finding the correct key. I am still not much better!

I found the Thai keyboard to be the most challenging -- not for the QWERTY basics even though I am used to an AZERTY keyboard -- but because they stuck all of the punctuation in strange places because they used some of the keys for their own bizarre symbols. Oddly enough, I did not have this problem at all in Vietnam, but I imagine it is because Vietnam uses the Roman alphabet already.

So many times I have tried to watch a video or listen to a song in the 8 song game thread and there it is; "Sorry, video not available". So frustrating! Thanks for your wizardry once again.

What kind of videos, Kimby -- ones you have made or stuff like Vimeo from online? If the latter, you click on the video button (immediately to the right of the image button) & paste in the link. If it's a video you made, yes it needs to be hosted first.

Videos of waterfalls and volcanoes in Iceland. I was hoping there was a way to upload them directly to AnyPort, like we can with photos.

You can try it.
Click on the Video button, which says: Supported Video Sites Dailymotion Metacafe MySpace videos Twitch.tv Vimeo YouTube Imgur GIFV And any direct link to .wmv / .avi / .mpg / .mov / .mp4 / .ogv / .webm
You should be able to put one of your videos in any of those last listed formats on here.

The most common and tolerant of non-tech savvy people way to upload and share video is surely YouTube. There's no charge and the process is absolutely straightforward as it must be for the intended user base. Start a free YouTube account and follow the simple uploading instructions, once uploaded and processed (compressed), you will be given a URL/link that can be used here and most other forums and social media to share your videos.

Thanks!

It's a known Chrome bug if you use that. I presume you've checked the computer time/date/location/time zone info? Have you synchronised your computer clock to Windows?

Thanks, Mark!
I use Opera, which is built on a Chrome platform. Let me double-check on synchronizing.

Has anyone changed to Windows 11 yet? How do you like/hate it? Microsoft keeps nudging me to switch, describing 11 in glowing terms. One thing that made me reluctant was the warning that certain features of Windows 10 would be lost. My experience has been that Microsoft and other platforms somehow track what we like, and those are the things they fiendishly take away. Here is the list of features removed in Windows 11.

My experience has been that Microsoft and other platforms somehow track what we like, and those are the things they fiendishly take away. Here is the list of features removed in Windows 11. I finally caved to the incessant nagging on my laptop. All I've noticed is that the start button has moved from the lower left corner to a harder-to-find spot towards the middle of the taskbar. It added a couple of new icons to said taskbar which I instantly removed from it without investigating. I hate OSs that nag me, or ask me to do this, that, or the other thing, or boast about new features, or even make me aware they exist at all.

This is the 3rd time I have been disowned by anyport after a spell of not posting. I am relegated to guest and can't seem to go from there to my usual 'questa' name. Not a huge worry but it would be nice to know what is happening.
