Picasa has disallowed hotlinking. It's still good photo editing software but is become useless for publishing to forums.

FWIW, I have used imageshack.com with relative success. Except for the time it replace one of my beautiful Otis Farm photos with a picture of a couple and a car that I had never seen before!
If you want instructions on how to use it, let me know. Otherwise, I won't waste everyone's time, since there are other photo sharing sites that others are happy with. Aren't there?

Thanks good people. I really need to just sit and take advantage of examining all these wonderful tools and advice that are being offered up here. If I remember correctly,I may have started out initially with Image shack and don't recall why I went with Picasa...

Do check out Photobucket. Even though it has its irritating qualities, overall it's a really good hoster. It gives you the option to make albums, which of course makes finding things later easier. Its bulk uploader will upload all of a folder from your computer, or whichever pictures you choose from that folder. And the bulk uploader can be set for a maximum size, which makes for easier posting here. You can also create slide shows from your Photobucket pictures. Anyport is set up so that you can post those slide shows here. anyportinastorm.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=fotobasics&action=display&thread=4302 You can also make slide shows with Photoscape. It's not a hosting site, but a wonderful photo editing site. Just a reminder that the Image Bank board has sub-boards about photography and posting pictures on anyport. Rikita, one of the contributors to those sub-boards, has suggested that maybe Frank's intro message has been misinterpreted. To clarify: everyone should please ask questions or add solid information to the instructional threads. Frank's message was a request that extraneous chat or practice pictures be kept out of those threads, so that they'd be easier to follow in the long term.

THE PICASA PROBLEMWe checked this out with our host Support board. Here's the answer: The issue here is that images are being linked to a secure server (https), if you remove the s from the https on linked images, they should display fine And that works! I tested it from my Picasa account. Below is how the link as supplied by Picasa looks. The red slash is pointing to the offending s. /https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_h2aFIb2Y2Vs/Sn8d-PSJXFI/AAAAAAAAASk/U6jlgDASxSM/ginger%20at%20gate%20cropped.jpg Here is the same link with that s after http removed: no shttp://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_h2aFIb2Y2Vs/Sn8d-PSJXFI/AAAAAAAAASk/U6jlgDASxSM/ginger%20at%20gate%20cropped.jpg Stick on the image tags and: Look at that ~~ a visible image that was hosted on PIcasa!

I suspected that the httpS was the culprit. I'd recently became slowly aware that Picasa Web had become all httpS. Mil gracias.

Well discovered. I went to Picasa's help forum and that never even rated a mention. Some help!
I have a ton of photos already uploaded to Picasa, but like the last set from Porland OR I did when I get back to posting my travel photos next they'll all be hosted on my own domain, which seems to be the best option from my perspective.

Don Cuevas kindly alerted me that he was able to post his Picasa pictures on another, non-Proboards forum, but not on anyport. That was the clue that there might be some solution to the problem. When tinypic announced it was pulling out, I re-hosted a bunch of pictures on photobucket, as per tinypic's suggestion . This was a pain in the neck, used up tons of my p'bucket allotment, then turned out to be unnecessary.

I've looked at this free photo migration assistant, Upload Junction, but haven't used it. www.uploadjunction.com/The thought of all my structured, nested Pbase galleries being dumped wiilly-nilly into a massive album on Picasa Web gives me chills. (I'm no longer actively uploading to Pbase, but I'll pay to have my earlier photos hosted.) I'm not clear if Upload Junction actually moves the files or simply copies them. I'd prefer it do the latter, at least until I see how well it works. I spent boatloads of time structuring my Pbase folders. (In fact, my last attempt was such a failure, I totally gave up on putting any more files on Pbase.) Picasa Web Albums is SO much more user friendly, even though the options for display are much more limited. ZenFolio looks great, but I get nervous in the company of highly professional photographers such as are there.

Bixa - Just tried the answers.yahoo.com/question/index etc etc, Unfortunately the question 6, about clicking the DEFAULT LEVEL was not possible for me. It was there but faded so one could not use it. I have sent a message to ImageShack and hope to get a reply. It seems all my photos ever posted on AnyPort have now got yellow frogs sitting in an ice cube??!!!

tod, hold your horses. Don't be so sure it isn't an Imageshack problem, and not yours. I think it might be them, not you.

On the other hand (and I use Photobucket so I'm not sure) but is it possible the setting have altered on Imageshack in such a way that your photos are not viewable by the public? Normally I have private and public albums. Those I post have the settings of being able to be seen by everyone I think.

I can see the photos you've posted on anyport in both Firefox and in Internet Explorer.

Well I can't. All I can see is Kerouac in a box of water. And it's not only on this forum. So is it something to do with my computer?

The problem is really widespread. I've been googling it and people are really frustrated and angry. Here is one proposed solution: you can register an account in Imageshack.us ,and login . After that open template file (xml file) and search for "imageshack.us" , it will show you link of all images that hosted in Imageshack.us . Copy all these links to download manager program (such as Internet Download Manager ,Orbit,Flashget ...) and this program will download all images for you . This is the best way for you to get all images . Remember you can do this when you have an imageshack account and you loged inI think the reason that I can still see Tod's photos is because my imageshack account is imageshack.us Or not. Here is the link to it, if anyone wants to try that fix: imageshack.us/I am thinking that because so many people are writing and complaining to imageshack, the site will probably to something very soon to make things work.

Any Mac users out there? I'm not on my own computer, & I'm having a terrible time. For one thing, all of the text on the forum is almost too teeny to read -- very uncomfortable. The mouse doesn't have a scrolling thing in the middle, either. Any ideas on how o make the text bigger?

Thanks, Fumobici. For whatever reason, there is no text size option on View on this computer. I googled the problem & was told to press the apple simultaneously with the + key. Ain't no apple, neither. There is a button with some kind of squiggle on it on either side of the space bar. That one worked. Pain in the neck, though, as it has to be reapplied with each page. I also type too fast for this keyboard. I think you all will be hearing less from me until Sunday, when I return to my own computer, which I will bathe with love.
