Autumn is still three weeks away, but I am seeing the beginning of it in the city. When it rains, the first leaves begin to fall. The outdoor cafés have already begun to warm their tables with the butane 'mushrooms' -- a heresy, as far as I am concerned. And of course the first leaves are beginning to change color. Can you show me what the arrival of autumn looks like in your area? (People who live in the southern hemisphere are very much encouraged to show us the arrival of spring.)

No signs of autumn here either, except from the early morning fog but that's too early for me to be awake enough to take photos

I knew Autumn had started its unstoppable entrance when our walk in the woods on Tuesday turned into a crunching in the leaves and conker collecting session. Two of my favorite activities which call for hot chocolate when you get home.

Very! I love the "sets" of photos you do, Tilly. Paris is certainly beautiful in the fall. You won't be seeing pictures of autumn from my area.

Glad you liked them, it was a great walk. It made me notice things I don't normally as I was keeping a big old eye out for signs of autumn

Great pictures, Tilly -- I just now got a chance to see them, because I can't see photos on the office computer.
The main glimpse of autumn this morning was seeing all of the kids trudging to school.

Actually, we've finally got something resembling summer here. 27 and sunny today - I better get out and make the best of it (it won't last).

I have been in Southeast Asia at times when the trees shed a lot more leaves than at other times, but I can't remember what sets it off -- a slight change in seasonal temperature, transition from wet to dry season or the opposite, or perhaps some other factor.
I know that when my friends from Singapore moved to Canada, the change of seasons was one of the things that they were looking forward to the most. Those of us from temperate climates often do not realize how jealous our equatorial friends are of seasonal changes and of course SNOW.

No sign of Autumn here yet, either. Looks like just another summers day. The only difference is perhaps that there is dew on everything in the mornings and my kids have gone back to school!

It was dark this morning when I went out for the paper around 6 AM. It's always a shock when shorter days set in.
But "Indian Summer" happens in September here, and it's my favorite season. Larches (tamarack trees) and aspens turn yellow, ground covers like huckleberry turn red, all against the backdrop of dark green conifers.
BTW, the "evergreens" are shedding needles now - though they never lose all their foliage, each year they drop the needles from 3 seasons ago. Before I can cut the grass, I have to rake up the needles, which turns a 45 minute job into a 2+ hour job. But with shorter days, I have to cut it less often.

I love the pictures and how they show the change of the seasons.
Many years ago someone sent me a Christmas card with this quoted on the front: "The seasons come, the seasons go, to teach man gratitude." Whenever I see frost on a field or budding branches or high summer flowers or lovely images such as yours, I think of that quote.

Spindrift, your garden still has the look more of the bounty of late summer than of autumn. Everything looks so lush, and your hops hopped!
Imec, those are exceptionally beautiful photos.
