Just saw this photo now, deyana -- it is indeed a thrill every year when the new leaves finally begin to appear. Luckily, we already had that a month ago in Paris. But the leaves here begin to fall a month earlier than a lot of places, too.

This massive tree had just gone down in a storm the night before I arrived in NY at my mother's house.

casi, you would think a tree that large would lift a whole section of the yard when it went over - its roots must have been very rotten. Looks like a silver maple, which are kind of weak in my experience.

To you too, Imec! It feels so good to be Canadian. And yes, leaves are allowed, I'd say so.
p.s. a special thread about Canada day on sunnyds.

Love your tree, rikita -- it has almost a swirling sense to it and the bark texture is beautiful. That pattern of blue sky behind the dark branches and light flowers is outstanding, Dahuffy

I took this shot last summer. Just before we returned this summer, a rainstorm destroyed this old oak. The weight of water on its leaves pulled it apart at the fork where its heart had rotted. A few days later the sawyers came to take it down. Now there is nothing there but an empty gravel planter bed.
