For what it's worth .............. this website should probably be checked before flying, although it exists in the realm of an unattainable ideal. Example: the site says if the buzzer beeps because you have a hidden ornamented body piercing, you can offer to remove it as an alternative to being patted down. Ha! I set off the top part of the arch because I had my hair in a braid crown and offered to remove all the hairpins. No, I had to endure the time-wasting and humiliating wanding and pat-down. My mother gets the same treatment because of the metal in her knee.

I am completely in favor of those machines that can see through clothes if they speed up security. I absolutely do not care if I am seen naked by total strangers. How could that possibly bother me?

I totally agree. It seems to me that is far less humiliating than the usual. I saw an elderly, arthritic gentleman made to take off his shoes, after which his equally elderly wife had to get down on the floor to help him put them back on. You have to walk past the conveyor belt one at a time, but no airport personnel offered to walk with him even though a tiled floor is slippery if you're only wearing socks.

I find the taking off of the shoes with all the germs about the worst atrocity. I don't care either if someone sees through me so to speak,I have nothing to hide. I found the security leaving NOLA to JFK very, very lax but did have to remove shoes. I am planning on taking back a sack of rose hips picked from the dunes here and am now questioning whether or not they'll see them or care. Best I mail them I guess. They will probably appear to be a sack of "cherry bombs".

I've only ever had to take of my shoes in Taipeh, bloody paranoid! As punishment I didn't go to their capital even though I was on an 8 hour layover.

Bangkok made everybody take off their shoes last week. In Paris you only have to do it if you are wearing things like boots or other big heavy shoes.
