I hate it when you have to turn back the page to see what you missed. But it was worth it.

I dunno, Rikita -- that picture works on so many levels. I really like it.

Great picture! That perspective gives it a Japanese print feel. It's beautiful in every way.

I always love fountains with the skinny jets.

Cheery, Reminds me of the one in Munich....I'd better look for those photos and compare the fountain.
Kerouac, that is quite a shot! Where??

Mine was in the Jardin des Halles. That's one of the things that will be ripped out for the renovation.

A tribute to the oyster industry in Brittany. See the upcoming Cancale report if interested.

Oh yawn. Of course we will not be interested. When?! Where?! That's a most interesting and beautifully deployed group. That type of representational statuary can be so hokey, but that piece is so well done and well placed.

You more southerly people will have to keep this thread going now, because the fountains are turned off until next spring...

I was going to comment on how great that last picture was ........ then I realized it was mine. Too funny, bixa! And that gargoyle looks like he's barfing water.

He probably is. Aren't gargoyles innately icky creatures? But look at how the curl of water on the right side of the vomitous flow mimics the curls on his head!

I love how the last three examples show how many ways this thread title can be illustrated. They're all beautiful photos, too.

Can't compete with kerouac's varied and lovely fountains, but I kinda like this one:

Perfectly nice, Kimby. I just assume it, but fountains with those iron extensions that seem to be made for placing vessels on them must have potable water.

Was taken some where in France, so I figured you'd know...

Well, in the past 50 years or so, they have put signs somewhere on the fountain to indicate "potable" or "non potable." But they are not always in immediate evidence.

Perhaps this one is no longer potable, and the signs have been taken down. But the bucket supports might induce one to collect water for drinking there anyway....
