I think as long as it's sealed it's fine. If you get the runs the next day... well then I was wrong. ;D

well it isn't sealed. it was just in a tin can that was closed, but not sealed... it could be up to four or five years old i think... and i saw something small and white in there, and tried to get a closer look. it just looked like a small bit of dust (which is possible as many years ago i opened the can and used some of the powder), but i think i might better chuck it out anyway. shame though...

I wouldn't trust the white stuff, best you chuck it.

I was visiting at my parent's house and noticed they had an adjustable shelf that needed to be raised to accommodate the large cleaning bottles they were trying to store under it.
In the process of unloading the shelf to move it up, I found a corroded can that had leaked and dried onto the shelf decades ago. It was a can of baby orange juice, and was in a box with baby bottles and nipples. Mind you, my parents have not had a baby in their house for 50 years. (I come by my pack-rat tendencies honestly!)

Clearly that can was meant for you, Kimby, and it was your duty to drink it.

I've just gift-wrapped it, carefully packed it, & inked your name & address on the outside, ready to be put in the mail tomorrow."
Hang on! I don't want it!!!!!!!!

Is it my imagination or do things expire later and later now?

Well this is disappointing. I thought it was about how to prepare for a date.

Perhaps best before date dating advice for people who've reached their best-before dates?
