Imec's home movie "My Winnipeg" is finally being released in France this month.

Yaayy! It's a quirky film in which Guy Madden both pays tribute and pokes fun at his home town. Parts of it are truth and parts are fiction - some of which are not immediately identifiable.

I finally saw it today, and it was great!
I like the image of Winnipeg being a city where the people can't stay awake and sleepwalk all night.
I also learned that you people call it Winnapeg.

Yes, we always find it odd when those "from away" call it Winnypeg. Although, the bear that takes it's name from here is Winnie, not Winna...

Winnypeg?!
You'd think anyone from the US or Canada would automatically say Winnapeg, even if they'd never heard it pronounced before.

Are you confirming the belief of Europeans that to speak 'American,' you have to have a boiled potato in your mouth (probably with some yellow mustard on it)?

I'm just wondering if Wikipedia is wrong about the pronunciation:
Winnipeg (pronounced /ˈwɪnɪpɛg/) is the capital and largest city of Manitoba.

It's not so much Winna as Winni - where the second i is pronounced the same way as the first i - like one would say nip not an ee sounding i like neep. Brits in particular like to apply the ee sounding i - Winneepeg.

Well, it was definitely Winnapeg in that terrible song.

"One great city" was a stupid tourism slogan for Winnipeg for a while. This local band used it as a title for an oblique expression of love for our town.
