Gosh, Lugg ~ that Sunday supper sounds perfect!
Salted popcorn only. Obviously if someone gave me Cracker Jack or similar I would eat it, but salted is the real thing of popcorn. I throw a dried chile & a sliced garlic clove in with the corn to be popped, then fish them out of the popped corn & put them back in the pot to sizzle with some olive oil to pour over the corn before salting. This is a favorite food.

Even though I've already had dinner, you have now convinced me to make popcorn as I watch Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid on Arte tonight. For the moment it is in sepia, but I'm sure that it changes to colour before long, no?

Ah, it has now switched to colour.

Isn’t just popcorn a bit lacking in vitamins and minerals etc?

But fiber, Mick ~ lots of fiber! Also, I am happy the whole time I am eating it. Tonight it's potato/celery soup with some sourdough bread.

I am defrosting an entrecôte for dinner, but the real question is whether I will have it with the healthy broccoli that I bought or the fried potatoes that I crave.

You probably know that in France we normally make just one vegetable per course. A lot of visitors from western lands complain about that and in just about American movie that shows a (healthy) meal, you always see 3 vegetables on every plate along with the meat -- usually potatoes, peas and carrots, since as we all know, Americans have an incredibly healthy diet and do not suffer from obesity.

Compared to the countries across the Atlantic Ocean…

Ha! But there are exceptions, even in France. And nowadays obesity, while not at the levels in the US and some other countries, is hardly unknown. Especially once outside the central neighbourhoods of large cities. It was clear that quite a few of the gilets jaunes, for example, were rather ponderous.

Obesity in France is a far worse epidemic than Covid-19. Everybody knows that the food sold to the poor is very cheap and very fatty. (And they love it.)

And unless they are involved in junior competitive sport (a lifeline for some talented young men), they don't get enough exercise either, in most cases.

No real supper due to the bathroom work going on well into the night. When the workmen finally left, I had some crackers & a few mixed nuts. Just in case anyone is wondering, miso is too salty to work as a spread on crackers & tahini oozes through the little holes in saltines.

It's more or less a table barbecue on a slab of rock. (Google translation just calls it a table grill.)

Lazy casserole. Leftover roast beef with a bag of pre-prepared casserole vegetables from M&S, stock that I made with the meat juices, leftover red wine (yes, really), oregano, garlic, beef stock cube and pasata. Cooking it very slowly....I'll make some white crusty bread too.

Y'all's food is prettier &/or more interesting than my food.
I made lentils flavored with cumin & curry powder today for lunch today, along with steamed basmati rice. Had it with chopped onion and a salsa I made from miso, yogurt, lime juice, & bottled habanero sauce. It's still setting on the stove, waiting to be my supper, too.

But that's fine, bixa! I still have some of my black eyed peas dish, frozen in little plastic bags. I'm making stock now to make it more a soup, but that will go into the soup thread!

Well each and every dish since I last checked in here sounds lovely. I adore Black eyed beans Lagatta - my mum used to make a kind of stew with them and added ribs ; I wish I had the recipe now but its likely that she did not have one anyway.

Well, make a stew of them and add ribs, though Livia and I frown on adding either human or feline ones. With luck you can google black-eyed peas ribs.
