That sounds a delightful dinner Rikita - who cooked/prepared all that? mainly my dad's wife - could be that my dad made the first salad, as that one was already prepared when we arrived, but also quite possibly she made that one, too (it's not that my dad doesn't cook, though ...)

Kerouac , That salmon and potato salad look wonderful! The weather is dark and rainy so I looked in the freezer for something I didn't have to go to the supermarket for.....Found two nice garlic pizza bases. I'll put the toppings on.

I made a stir-fry last night with crispy pork, shredded cabbage, bell peppers, carrots and a handful of small runner beans. All mixed with egg noodles.
Tonight I have pork again in the form of schnitzels. A few leftover mushrooms will go into a nice cream sauce to go with them.

I short report on how a person cannot tell the difference between pork and chicken.....I made the pork schnitzels and would not divulge the main meat of our dinner all day. When Mr.Tod sat down at the table he said Öh its chicken tha'ts why you kept it a secret"! ' 'Yes its chicken dear. .... Not another comment.
And it was delicious. Lovely thin succulent breaded schnitzels with a killer mushroom and garlic sauce, stuffed butternut roasted (store bought) white rice and green beans.

I'm a naughty naughty girl for not revealing my schnitzels were pork....smack! smack! But, every housewife will tell you that when she has bought something that is just wasteful to bin it because of a particular preferance , a Plan B has to be put in place. If my husband had taken a bite an said "Hey! this isn't chicken!" , I would have told the truth. But when someone is enjoying the meal....better to keep quiet.
Moving on to tonight. My fishmonger sent the weekly available fish list and I saw she had Kob in store. I love that fish, so rushed up to Hilton get the pieces of the fish I like... which is the thinner tail end. Mr.Tod likes his hake so he is getting that. I don't have lettuce for the salad so have picked some young tender inner spinach leaves from the chard.

Rikita, He is not a fan of pork. If I cook a pork chop for me, I cook a lamb chop for him.

Friday night fridge clean out - Or, to be posh we can call it Friday Night Tapas at home?! Curried eggs, spicy rice, two "Chicken"schnitsels, and two pies I bought with a big Union Jack sticker on the front saying "Traditional MORESBY'S Pork Pies, Then an additional label saying they were bacon and cheese. I warmed them but they are ready to eat cold as you please. I think I prefer the plain Pork Pie which are smaller. These Moresby's were a handful size. Now I started wondering why the big red, white and blue flag on the front when they were made right here not far from the city of PMB.? Can anyone explain the Moresby name??

ah, i can understand that. though sometimes/in some dishes pork is nice, i'd prefer lamb over pork most times, too.

a. is at her dad's, and i had bougth a sweet potato for myself (a. doesn't like them, so i rarely make them when she is here). plan was to just bake and eat it with sour cream, but then it seemed boring to me, so i made a kind of curry with sweet potato and red lentils, and added the rice directly into the curry, too (so i only have one pot to wash), and some coconut cream and raisins, and then ate that with the sour cream ...

After yesterdays fridge Tapas, I had to think of something for lunch today - it's also dinner as we only eat one big meal a day. I got a message loud and clear that we are inundated with beautiful broccoli, so cut some florets ready to steam. Prepared some smallish potatoes in their jackets, together with a large gem squash. I spied some nice lamb cutlets at the butchery section in the supermarket and bought two each. Before I grilled the chops in the air-fryer I applied some sweet Indonesian soy sauce, and let them marinate for two hours. I also didn't over cook them as they turned out juicy and pale pink inside.

Pureed broccoli with crème fraîche can be very nice if you get tired of eating it the normal way. Naturally, a couple of potatoes can be included as well as any spices and herbs that appeal to you, not forgetting garlic of course.

You got me wondering if Mr Tod kept kosher or halal...
Actually the butchers I buy most from is halal - Moroccan. Just because their wares are very good and relatively inexpensive for the quality - their lamb is from here in Québec, not imported from who knows where, and frozen.
I don't eat a lot of red meat, but I want it to be decent. I'll probably have a bit of lamb kefta, with onions. And a salad, as it is still summer here.

It was the Dutch Grand Prix today so spent the afternoon at the racetrack - Young Verstappen is my hero so all went well when he took 1st place. But that has nothing to do with dinner....or has it? Not really except for tthe fact I kept bobbing in and out the kitchen getting dinner ready as the race ended.
Dinner: Dressed soles. Boiled Mediterranean potatoes in their jackets smothered in fried leeks, garlic sauce and heaps of chopped Italian parsley. Steamed Swiss Chard in butter.

Your Sashimi looks delicious K2 and your post Grand prix dinner also Tod.
I am having salad made with tomatoes, orange , basil, spring onions and feta with a jacket potato that has been in the oven for a couple of hours so that the skin ( which is the best part for me ) is a nice , dark and crispy brown.

I bet that jacket potato was one of those Jersey Royals! At the moment I have just finished a bag (2kg) of Mediterranean potatoes which are the closest we get to a Jersey spud.
I have made us a vegetarian macaroni ( in this case spaghetti) cheese. The oven dish is filled with chopped up bell pepper & tomatoes from the garden, and some nice big white mushrooms & the spaghetti - all smothered in a cheddar cheese sauce and baking away at the moment. I did a few slices of garlic bread in foil to pop in the oven for 20min or so, and we will again have broccoli on the side.

I believe veal liver is one of the tastiest livers one can buy. The nearest we can get to it is Lambs Fry (liver). Long time since I have had any.

It must have been wonderful Mick!
Tonight we had a simple supper of a 6 egg omelette to share. I scattered snipped up gammon ham slices and spring onions with a large amount of parsley all over the egg mixture letting it set on the stove top before putting it under the grill to explode into puffy bronze gorgeousness. Waiting for the omelette were 4 large brown mushrooms that I grilled with garlic butter. But the main attraction was a green olive baguette baked today. Not by me but the Woolworths Food store. Now to hull some strawberries for dessert.

I had calf's head for dinner. It is not as nasty as it sounds, although I'm sure that a lot of picky people would not like it. You buy it as a pressed vacuum-packed square, made up of a bit of meat, some fatty jowls and mystery element. It is always sold with a little pouch of gribiche sauce which is made from ground hard boiled eggs, mustard, oil and various seasonings, including garlic, shallots, parsley, chives, capers and pickles. In other words, it is all too complicated to make it yourself. So I just popped it in the microwave and had it with boiled potatoes. The gribiche sauce is poured on top, unheated. www.atelierdeschefs.com/media/recette-e13848-tete-de-veau-sauce-gribiche.jpg

The gribiche sauce sounds like some thing I would like to try , I suspect that I would have to make it as I have never seen it on sale here.
