Oh, I saw that happening to a bunch of trees in Paris this morning.

In Paris it can be sad. Where I live it's an act of mercy.

Well, they were clearly doing it because the trees were diseased, even though we laymen cannot always see what the problem is. They were trees lining a boulevard, so not being removed to make way for construction or something. In six months or so, they will be replaced and then all we have to do is wait 40 or 50 years for them to look pretty.

Ha! If this were a contest, you'd win for most exotic career depicted. Also, it's a great photograph.
Seems like a really teeny brush for such a big job.

That pic is a winner! Have you thought about selling it to the Zoo for publicity pics?

Oh my, that is brilliant. Such an ancient profession. Where was it taken, amboseli?

Thank you lizzyfaire. It was taken in the Saline di Trapani e Paceco in Sicily. Hard labour, in the heat!!

I love their "uniforms" and how different yet alike each of them are.

Brilliant composition, Amboseli, and the subtle colors are wonderful. I love how the salt sparkles.
Also wonderful to see you here!

Amboseli, your various photos in different threads recently are excellent, but your salt sweepers tops the lot. It has depth and something of interest at each level, and is so crisp

Thank you, questa. I didn't think the one of the salt sweepers would come out good because I couldn't get very near to them.

From time to time, the tree grates of Paris must be pulled up, the disgusting trash removed, and the dirt scratched a bit to allow rain to get to the roots.
