I am probably wrong, and have nothing to do atm so I will have a guess. Volcanic sand....Banyan trees grow down to beach...the pack of those types of dog. Surf boards to rent...
I'll take a punt and say one of Bali's northern beaches...?? near Lovina perhaps.
Puzzles...ethnicity of first guy...exchange rate $1 - 500 whatsis.

I thought Costa Rica as well! Maybe even recognize the coconut water salesman, do you remember which beach you were at or the town you were near?

The first photo, with the surfboards, was in Sámara ; the second one in Tortuguero.

And the coconut seller's name is Alonso.

Alonso? You mean the Alonso that lived with his wife and kids in the little house not far from the beach? Well, what a small world...I may go to Costa Rica one day.

Ah, not the same area. We were further south, near Uvita. We were planning on a holiday next month near Tamarindo but had to cancel so I will continue to view your photos enthusiastically! The first photo, with the surfboards, was in Sámara ; the second one in Tortuguero.

There is almost no point in any city or town that is lacking skilled tortilla makers.
