This is what they are doing outside my window. But - they are having trouble getting the frame in the hole. So instead of making the hole bigger, they are banging shit out of the frame with big hammers. Been at it an hour or more.

It is all the fault of the idiots who made the frame.

Mark, I had the mini-version of that all day yesterday, as various metal frames set in concrete were banged into submission. I'm sorry I didn't record it for you so you could incorporate it into a master urban symphony work.

Too true Mossie. Heads will roll.
They had about five attempts at it and I wanted to shout at them, just dig the bloody hole out a bit, but no, smashing and banging and adjusting until they had it. Ahh well, it's done now, ready for tomorrow.

It's a stinky business - roof cleaning. Our roof gathers a lot of that thick green moss that is so attractive on English stone walls. Unfortunately it is a curse on our roof as a heavy downpour loosens it and blocks the gutters and pipes leading to our water tank supply. Today we carried on with the kitchen courtyard section. Here is a man hard at work.

There are parking spaces under my set of apartments. Last night a neighbour didn't raise the roller shutter door far enough and hit it with the roof of his car and broke it. Pulled it out of its runners. This morning a worker is trying to repair it. I was watching him (because I need to take my car out) and saw him activate it. I knew it was a bad move. I caught him running away just as it fell off -

The skimmer you've got on the front wall, was that fitted to the old pool? I wondered what they were doing regarding emptying the pool in the first few photos until nearer the end when I realised you don't have a drain at the bottom. I see the drain is/was in the water catchment bit at the front. The next question is, I can see your pump and filter, but where now is the outlet from the pool to it and the inlet back into the pool - apart maybe from the skimmer as the only other hole I can see is for the light?
Looks really good now anyway.

Thanks for your questions Mark. We will be going back to the beach house on about 9th November and I will take some more photos that answer your questions. I have no idea what they devised to change the old system that flowed into the long "catchment" furrow that was originally there. There was a problem with the pool pump as well. Most of the equipment was really old and useless. They found one wall had no foundations.....had to do some underpinning which was a surprise development and not expected. I think you can just see it in the second photo where there is also a freshly dug foundation for the new wall.

Mark -The skimmer is new as the old pool had a trench and water spill. Never worked properly when the power went out - all sorts of problems. Yesterday on my way home I spotted this security guard working by herding two young Cordwalles boys safely back tinside the school gates - They had lobbed their cricket ball into the road, then went after it. He must have waylaid them at the guard house and then went with them to retrieve it.
