Even though I knew he existed, I don't think I ever saw his program when I was little. I was more of a Captain Kangaroo type person.

I remember seeing his show when I was little and thinking the kid equivalent of WTF?. I never really liked tv as a child, except for the very first time I saw it. I was three or four and my dad was sent to some kind of Air Force school in San Diego. (this was at the beginning of the Korean war). We lived in a motel or little apartment on the beach. It was also the first time I saw the ocean. Anyway, the tv was really small and had a round screen. It seems in memory that Beany and Cecil was on all the time, although that can't be right. I also remember how the back of my dad's head would completely block the screen, as he was pretty fascinated with the new device.
But I digress.
Years ago my sister used to have a thing for Mel Gibson, who always reminded me of Soupy Sales.

I have no recollection of ever seeing this show. I remember Mr. Green Jeans. Was that Captain Kangaroo? Watched very little TV as a child.

Mr. Green Jeans was the Captain's sidekick. Since the show was in b&w, we will never know, will we?

He was less condescending than the Captain.
