Last weekend we went to Margon a small village in the Languedoc area of France to go to some friends’ party. They bought an old vineyard a few years ago and it was to celebrate the harvest. This is a link to their website, which has some photos of the vineyard and vines:

It turns out Margon is 10 minutes from where BigIain lived for many years. He gave us some brilliant advice on things to do and see and I can’t thank him enough for suggesting Bouzigues…photos below.
On Saturday we visited Pezanas to see the market. It is a lovely town and very photogenic but we ventured down a side road and found a lovely little restaurant (called Le Pannequet in case you know it Iain) and by the time we left I was far too warm and fuzzy to take photographs.
On Sunday evening when we had finally recovered from the party we went for a walk around Margon, which is built around an impressive chateau, and the surrounding fields:
The view from our B&B:
Vineyards on the way into the village
The Chateau as you approach
Walking around the village:
Walking home as the light faded:
On Monday, at following Iain’s advice we visited Bouzigues. It is a small town on the side of an enormous salt lake that is famous for oysters and mussels.
So glad we didn’t make it as planned on Saturday as it was an absolute picture with bright blue skies and on a quiet Monday and it was almost deserted. The lake itself is completely calm and the whole place was just a place of absolute tranquillity.
My camera wasn’t good enough to get any decent shots of the oyster beds but if you squint very hard you can just make them out them in the distance in the first two pictures:
So now so relaxed we are almost horizontal we walked back to town to visit Chez Tchepe a small oyster restaurant that the guy at the place we were staying recommended. It was fabulous. Eating oysters, mussels, local fish pie and drinking wine (at 22 euros for the two of us!) with the October sun on my face I almost just went ahead and died of happiness there and then:
**Sigh**
