How about a combination purse and bear trap? It would also discourage pickpockets.

Deyana, she wasn't killed in Toronto, but in a national park in Nova Scotia, according to the article.

oops, yes, you are right bjd, it was in Nova Scotia, she must have been visiting I guess, poor girl.
I've never heard of coyotes killing a person like that before. I wonder if the fact that I always have my large dog with me scares them away? Because in all the years I've been here I haven't encountered any during my walks in the woods. Although I've seen plenty walking around by the side of roads etc, they always seem quite harmless to me.

Sort of like foxes in France -- they generally just slink away as fast as possible, even though they are one of the most common roadkill victims here.
They are also the principal purveyors of rabies in Europe, so people are very wary of them.

I just read it on a different news site. She was an up- and- coming folk singer and only 19. Who'd have thunk a couple of coyotes could do this. A pity.
