I am sure that we are way behind the rest of the world on this. Yesterday, a few blocks from our home, the first Automated DVD vending kiosk opened (we hear there is 1 other in South Africa). It was an interesting experience, we registered yesterday afternoon, chose our movies, quite painless. When we went to return them this morning, the 24 hour shop was closed , we hope they get their act together. Do you have automated vending kiosks? If so, how do you find the experience? Have video stores been replaced by vending machines, or will there always be a need for a shop with people in?

We have them not quite on every street corner, but it seems that way some of the time. I think I have two of them within 200 meters of my apartment. I have read that they were an Italian invention, but that the machines have spread like wildfire. They used to be for video cassettes, so they are not all that recent....
