Indeed, it is very rare to see shadows on both sides of a road.

Some excellent photos guys! Rikita's is very clever causing the foreground to be etched in black against the far distant blue haze of the trees and hills.
That boating scene looks magic htmb!

Goodness! It's been so long since I've seen this thread I had to go back three pages to see what I missed. So many beautiful/stirring/intriguing/quirky/imaginative images I would love to compliment each one, but can't remember well enough to do that. Wish we had a "like" button on here!

![](http://imageshack.us/a/img812/9715/uodm.jpg) Another boat image, from Utah. Don't know what kind of craft this is, but the guy seemed to be fishing. Reminded me of the leg rowing boatmen of Inle lake in Myanmar/Burma...

So many excellent images & so many different ways to interpret the theme. I think anyporters stay on alert for The Good Image! I hope you all will forgive my hogging the thread for one post. I'd really like to present these as a sequence:

Those are lovely, bixa. What's the story behind them?

Thanks, guys! Those are little wood carvings by a husband and wife team known for more elaborate works. Some information about them here, at #s 25 and 28. Although those are identifiably hummingbirds, that type of carved, painted folk art here is usually more fantastical. The two towns near Oaxaca that produce them are Arrazola and San Martín Tilcajete. I did a report on Arrazola. Image Bank related anecdote: right after I went into that doorway & started taking pictures, a young woman also entered and snapped off some photos with her phone ......... using flash. Partly to be nice, but also because I didn't want my pictures messed up, I pointed out to her that the flash would keep the shadows from showing up. She cocked her head, said "yeah, right?", then took a picture without the flash. She inspected it & gave me a big grin & thank you. Mossie, I need to figure out how to get some little critters to you or, better yet, have you come get them!

Mossie, I need to figure out how to get some little critters to you or, better yet, have you come get them! Nice idea Bixa, but I'm afraid there is no way I am coming to Mexico now, much as I would have liked to some years ago.

I love your hummingbirds, bixa, and will be down as soon as I can to pick mine up. And visit you of course!

Fantastic, but if I may make a gentle reminder, the Image Bank is only for photos that you have taken yourself. ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png)

Just did. Thanks for the reminder.

Bixa, did you take photo #319 at your pretty little home?

Yes I did, Htmb. That's my sensitive rendition of the sun furiously fading my possessions. ;D
Thanks, Kerouac. Don't they sort of look like crawfish? (once seen cannot be unseen)

Great pics good people! Bixa, they do resemble crawfish but it did not come immediately to mind. I know you have "crawfish on the brain" syndrome, therefore the association I'm sure. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Still, I just love them!!!

The bigger shadow looks like it is getting ready to pounce on the smaller one.
