Samantha Davies arrived at the port of Les Sables d'Olonne today after sailing alone around the world in 95 days, 4 hours, 39 minutes and 1 second. This puts her in 3rd place in the Vendée Globe race, and the second woman to win an award since Ellen MacArthur in 2000-2001. Her 3rd place won't be validated for 2 days, though, to see if Marc Guillemot crosses the finish line before 3 a.m. during the night of Sunday to Monday, since he received a 50 hour credit for detouring to assist Yann Eliès, who had broken his leg. The Vendée Globe is one of the toughest sailing races in the world, since it is solitary, without assistance and with no touching of land during the entire race. Her personal website is: www.samdavies.com/

Yes, but she was the second loser across the line if I read you correctly. Are you suggesting that she should be celebrated more than the winner and runner-up in a race purely because she is a woman?
It is a great achievement for anyone to circumnavigate in under 100 days, but you do not mention the winner

Aw, Marc Guillemot arrived before the deadline, so she ends up in 4th place.

To be fair, I agree with Iain.
Anyway, sailing isn't a sport, it's a pastime.
