Will male rock finally be overthrown?
nah nah nah nah.. nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah ..
Say it say it say it say it say it say it TWICE Don’t you ever let it go, it’s over Cuz you know I’ve been called worse by better You bipolar roller-coaster Say it say it say it TWICE say it say it say it TWICE
Remember when you shut the fuck up? Me neither I’m still a lil’ lil’ lil’ loner When I say no, NO means hell no! Play it solo! Know you are my worst hangover!
You find drama when you go low Baby I won’t cry over you You got all the questions not the answers Cuz it’s never over say it say it TWICE
I don’t even like boys Don’t you understand You‘re just not my type Don’t you understand
Just give it up no just give it up and go down Give it up now I can’t believe Give it up no I can’t believe you’re so down Cuz we know now love love isn’t easy
Say it say it say it say it say it say it TWICE Don’t you ever let it go, it’s over Cuz I cannot stand your face you bragger When I say no, NO means hell no! Play it solo! Know you are my worst hangover!
You find drama when you go low Baby I won’t cry over you Cuz I never never go go, never go low, drama follows, wherever you go, when I say no, NO means hell no! This’ my motto, piano solo, I can drop the beat solo, I can drop the beat solo I beat you twice in a row
Cuz you can gamble I’m not even a prize Kanye loves himself it’s all right You bipolar roller-coaster Say it say it TWICE say it say it TWICE
I don’t even like boys Don’t you understand You‘re just not my type Don’t you understand
Just give it up no just give it up and go down Give it up now I can’t believe you got down Give it up no I can’t believe you’re so down Cuz we know now love love isn’t easy

At my advanced age, I am a bit slow on the uptake with some of the latest songs, but I was appropriately gobsmacked by this daylong tribute to a 100 year old grandmother. My own only lasted to age 92.

So much good stuff on this page!
Hope this one is okay to put here, as it's two years old, but I just discovered it. For extra fun after listening to it, go look up "Old Man River" by Caterina Valente on youtube.

Powerful video, although I am conflicted and distracted about how much these kinds of music videos seem to be more about the artist than the music. That is not to take away from Glover's talent, nor that of other artists who make these kinds of "star turn" videos, such as Beyoncé.
I caught the two sentences about Oaxaca -- do they mean that the narrator has connections in Oaxaca who will find a hit man?
Good ears for you to catch that!

A friend of mine turned me on to this after seeing/hearing them live in NYC. At first I wasn't real keen on it but once I listened some more I really got into it.

Very stirring and beautiful!
I looked at what it said under the video on youtube & apparently this is an elaborate, musical way for the bride to answer "I do" when asked at the wedding if she loves her husband.

Just one more and even though it is sung by a Zulu performance group, it is actually relating to the Ndebele but picked up elsewhere and adapted to use any words to hand from any southern African language. Widely known in southern Africa and one of the most important songs culturally. ""Shosholoza" is a traditional miner's song, originally sung by groups of men from the Ndebele ethnic group that travelled by steam train from their homes in Zimbabwe (formerly known as Rhodesia) to work in South Africa's diamond and gold mines. The Ndebele live predominantly in Zimbabwe near its border with South Africa. The song mixes Ndebele and Zulu words and is Zimbabwean in origin even though the two ethnic groups are very similar." It is the unofficial South African second national anthem. "Shosholoza or "tshotsholoza!" means go forward or make way for the next man, in Ndebele. The sound "sho sho" uses onomatopoeia and reminiscent of the sound made by the steam train." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shosholoza

This lovely lady from Bahia performed at an outdoor show at our Jazz Festival yesterday. Unfortunately I wasn't there because I was taking part in a Green lane (ruelle verte) party behind a friend's house. She has visitors who probably attended the concert; we'll see:
Bixa, I haven't visited this thread in a while but will watch all the new posts.

Been binge watching Glastonbury , some brilliant sets (also some stinkers) but was quite taken with this chap...not my usual thing, especially as this is a sort of hymn. Stormzy is a 25 year old old from Crodon. I just watched his whole Glasto-set on tv and it was astonishing. Full of energy...and his lyrics seem pretty amazing. Not that I can grasp many of them.
