Thank you, Imec -- can't wait to see what you're going to do with this theme.
Wow, Kerouac! That's really one of the best of your many fabulous photos. Did you take that during the White Nights?

I had already used that photo long ago on another site. But it would be hard to remember, because the principal subject of the photo essay was about biking to the movies on a freezing winter morning. (The cinemas are on level "minus 3".)

Oh ~~ I did not remember seeing the picture before. It's just that it is such a piece of artistry that I thought the venue might be something created specifically for the arts festival.

It is simply one of the entrances to an underground shopping mall. It might be destroyed next year when they finally start restructuring the entire place, which is considered to be a 1970's abomination (which it is!).

Maybe they could transport it whole to Winnipeg so that the developers there could see what really bad modern architecture is, thus possibly saving the airport.

Apologies, Imec -- I was postive I'd commented on your wonderful photos in #s 10 & 11. (I think I'm finally completely losing it.)
I love your pictures, and this group really runs the gamut in form, color, and texture. It's a delight to go from the rounded red hydrant on to the textured slabs, slice of sky, and spikes of greenery braving the sun; thence to the restful hues, rustling leaves, and gently surprising angle of the old bench. Kudos!

Yeah, that's a vendor who sets up in the Campo de' Fiori in Rome. The odd color is from the pavillion they have set up the sky's light is filtered through.
I really wanted to try some of those but succumbed to option paralysis.

This was taken in Siena, Italy. We spent the day in Old Siena and this is the ceiling in the Duomo there.

Bixa: Yes, I pretty much did but I do that in all of the churches and museums because the ceilings are beautiful and I really think sometimes in our hurry to see the obvious we miss some extraordinary art. This is in the Vatican Museum.

Those embroideries were at Saquisili market in Ecuador. But most textiles (and tourists) are in Otavalo. I didn't actually buy anything like that, but I find it makes great photographs.
